Isabella Prado

I am an International Analyst from Brazil with a diverse academic and professional background with experiences in different countries and professional fields. My past experiences provided me with the necessary research, professional and critical skills to work with International Cooperation and Development in the Global South. Currently, in Belgium, my research is focused on food security which allowed me to further developed my knowledge on global environmental politics and the European Union.

Throughout my academic path, I have engaged in different student positions that allowed me to enhance my research and critical skills. In line with that, I had the opportunity to join the International Cooperation Observatory as Research Intern, a database created to monitor and research international cooperation at a national, international and regional level (Brazilian State of Minas Gerais). There I truly understood the importance and impacts of International Cooperation in the domestic and international level, besides being able to develop my research, critical analysis and team work skills. Moreover, during my previous studies, I was the elected Director for Research Development for the International Relations’ student body, promoting academic events and debates.

Moreover, I worked as the Market Intelligence Analyst at the India Brazil Chamber of Commerce. There, I had an opportunity to work with multicultural group and contribute to the India-Brazil bilateral relations working alongside the members of the Honorary Consulate of India in Minas Gerais, in order to promote commercial and cultural relations, assist Indian and Brazilian companies to develop businesses and fulfil their objectives in the respective target markets. In this role, I also produced Market Researches about different market sectors of both countries and assisted the members of the Chamber of Commerce through the negotiation process with governments and foreign companies.

During the Master in International Politics, I was offered the Project Assistant position to cooperate with a PhD Candidate at the Leuven International and European Studies institute researching the Chinese multilateral diplomacy. 

Primarily, I have pursued an academic career focused on International Relations and Politics. The Bachelor in International Relations offered by PUC Minas adequately prepared me through a multidisciplinary curriculum to obtain knowledge in the main fields of international studies. In addition, the curriculum offered me the flexibility to delve into areas of greater personal interest: international cooperation and development policy. Furthermore, the Master in International Politics reinforced while my theoretical knowledge and developed, in a higher educational level, my research and analysis skills. Moreover, my specialization was concentrated in global environmental politics and European foreign policy. The program allowed me to develop my knowledge on European climate and energy policies and to gain insights on policy evaluation in different sectors within the European level. Moreover, my dissertation focused on the impacts of the Brazil’s Zero Hunger Program in the international food security regime with a focus on the FAO. 

Lastly, I am currently enrolled in the Master in European Policies and Public Administration at KU Leuven that provides me with academic excellence in comparative studies of public sector structures, policy-making, and administration. Currently, within my second Master’s Thesis The influence of the Regime Complex of Food Security on Europe’s food policy, I address how the overlapping food policies developed by different International institutions are translated by the European Union into its Common Agriculture Policy and what are the consequences of this overlap. Through the application of regime theory, the analysis will focus on mapping the international regimes most present in the CAP to identify Europe’s priority and strategic approach to tackle food insecurity.
