PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As a Functional systems Engineer you will support the design of timely, efficient and cost effective solutions to improve the functional performance of the Self Propelled Forage Harvester; both for the base unit and headers. You will have specific accountability for assigned subsystems for both current & new product development. 

You will be gaining product knowledge and get exposed to critical functional components to comprehend and appreciate its design requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Specify, design (3D & 2D), develop, coordinate, and support the definition and integration of core vehicle components and/or subsystems consistent with program objectives inclusive of concepts, prototype support, field validation and product launch.
  • Improve current product quality to meet platform goals (Field Q&R, MFG issues, Fitness for Use, Cost Reduction)
  • Communicate with the engineering team to coordinate the interrelated designs and assure project completion to schedule, following established design processes.
  • Virtually design and analyze components using design tools and processes. Participate in design reviews and actively participate in Safety Analysis and DFMEA teams.
  • Provide assistance with prototype builds and engage in field operations. Develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and provide supporting documentation. Documentation will be used internally and externally. Provide necessary information to support management milestone presentations.
  • Complete test requests, resolve field product integrity reports (PIR’s), and track progress.
  • Provide assistance in analyzing field data to support the development process.
  • Travel, as necessary, to other design centers, supplier facilities, field test locations, and customer locations in order to provide support, resolve problems, explore design alternatives, or conduct failure analysis.
  • Ensure completion of engineering requirements/design activities to meet product goals on quality/cost/performance
  • Work closely together with different departments affiliated with engineering (purchasing, manufacturing, suppliers …) to facilitate the industrialization process.

    • Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical, Agricultural or Bachelor with equivalent work experience.
  • Affinity with electrification, system engineering, electrics & software either from education or from personal interest; mainly to follow and understand the trends for automation and its impact on the product requirements.
  • 0 - 10 years of work experience in product development, preferably in the AG Business
  • Experience in product design and development is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
  • Personal interest and experience with Self Propelled Forage harvester is preferred.
  • Up to 10% of time spent travelling and no issues with International travelling
  • Teamplayer with strong social skills

  • Flexible and stress-resistant
  • Languages: English Dutch and / or German is a plus
  • Software: Extensive Creo or other 3D CAD system experience Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint) Matlab is a plus
