As a member of this team you will work with companies on the leading edge of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow.How will you make an impact?The Applications Development Engineer TEM Semiconductor is responsible for providing technical expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific''s sales efforts at specific high class semiconductor customer sites. This customer focused position is ideal for an experienced technologist wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. This role builds bridges in semiconductor developments cross continents between customers / marketing and R&D and has a strong knowledge and understanding of TEM.What will you do? Cultivating positive customer relationships and acting as a high level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, explaining complex technology details, giving in depth technical presentations, and assisting in applications development.Perform high quality TEM product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher partners and customers, particularly those in the Semiconductor and Science marketplace.Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutionsProvide continuous feedback to the product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while strongly collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.Process development and other technical deliverables at the customer site.Deliver Best Practice Document customization to customer-specific processes, write production recipes and run qualification experiments to drive the use of Thermo Fisher Scientifics tools in production.Providing technical product expertise assistance with all phases of the sales cycle.Act as a primary communication conduit to the factory by reporting engineering and production issues from the customerTroubleshoot and report software and hardware issues and escalate as necessary.Provide feedback to engineering on system performance, features and problems.Recommend and advise on direction for potential applications consistent with customer requirements and technical feasibility.Provide technical support to Sales and Service Desk, R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Service and other departments as required.How will you get here? EducationTypically requires a University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics, an advanced degree is preferred.ExperienceKnowledge and recent hands-on experience with TEM is required (with Dual Beam, desired)4 or more years of experience in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience utilizing TEM technologyKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesKnowledge of advanced technology diagnostics as well as troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment; specifically, electron/ion microscopesKnowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processesAbility to work independently as well as in the team.Excellent, enthusiastic, clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience are critical to the success of this position. Must have professional working proficiency in English.
