As a R&D Technician you will be responsible for executing tests and trials. You will be part of R&D Test Lab department for new DYMO thermal printers and consumables. You will participate in the validation of the design of new products as well as development and qualification of existing products. You will also contribute to the maintenance and improvement of tests.
Key responsibilities:
Testing: (30%)
Testing support and execution (medium and high complexity)
Analyze issues found during testing
Make a technical report according to the DYMO standards
Troubleshooting: (25%)
Demount printers and consumables with issues
Analyze the issue using Root Cause Analysis techniques or execute Design of Experiment and present solutions to the manager
Metrology: (20%)
Prepare and conduct dimensional measurements (2D-3D) by reviewing drawings
Follow up on measurement results, evaluate results and translate the results into a technical report
Fixture design & automation: (10%)
Design and follow up of new test fixtures.
Contact with external suppliers
Program and maintain objective quality analysis software
Project Test Management: (8%)
Prepare laboratory tests (mechanical, chemical, electronics) by reviewing work orders and/or specifications
Follow tests executed by workers closely and make sure the testing can be finished within the requested timeframe
Analyze issues found during testing
Monitor the correct execution of product tests and measurements (mechanical, chemical) according the standard operating procedures and/or engineering instructions
Follow up on test results, evaluate test results and translate the results into a technical report
Quality improvement: (5%)
Work on individual product performance projects
Conduct root cause analysis on issues and propose solutions and improvements
Specifications & test plans: (2%)
Define test plans (DVP&R) and product test specifications based on the product specification
General:
Prepare work to be accomplished by setting up and programming equipment and apparatus for experiments or measurements
Interface directly with personnel from all levels of Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Program Management, R&D, Marketing and Materials Management
Minimum Qualifications:
1-2 years of work experience in similar position
Basic level of technical expertise and judgment in evaluating complex issues and developing innovative solutions
Fluent in Dutch and English (verbal & written)
Good command of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical education in mechanical or electronics engineering
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Problem-solving skills including identifying problems and root cause analysis
Knowledge of 3D Cad (Creo or SolidWorks), Metrology (2D – 3D), Measurement Techniques and Windchill is a plus
Willingness to learn new technologies, equipment and procedures through on-the job training
