A Step Ahead

She played with her curls. Delicious curls. Thick and soft. Round and round. From another galaxy. It seemed. He noticed her behavior and knew this had a meaning. True meaning. In the life of things. He laughed. Recognizing her traits. The essence of what made her her. She transformed her curls into letters. At least in her own raw imagination. He could translate her thoughts. As only he could. A word was ready to appear. 'Start'. 'Life is simple, isn't it?', she said to him. He agreed. There was no other way to show her his love. He was content. Happy even. More than that. It was obvious.

A knock on the door. The door opened. Slowly but surely. A step ahead. They both saw the future from near. The finished result so to say. They liked it. The time was aligned. It fitted in the master plan. Ready to start. Now. Their fingers touched. Their hands danced. Sweet moves. All the in betweens were ready to unfold. The finish line sure. The setting got lost in their expectations. So different from the rest. They let go any other outcome. It was good as it was presented. The days and nights were excited. 

The plan was complete. They left the house. Wandered through their environment. Everything reflected beauty and patience. What a trip. The journey was a blessing. A painting in his hand. The paint was fresh. Blue, yellow and orange. Colors selected with a conscious choice. To attract more of the same. The painting knew where it belonged to. It had no hurry. They obeyed. Followed the painting. A story counted on them. They looked at each other and were certain that they walked in the right direction.

The road was not too long, it felt natural. She took his arm and they continued their path. Stopped now and then. Just for some moments in a lifetime. Only the dogs could tell that there was movement in their steps. Nobody else noticed the sweet little differences in the patterns. The painting giggled. It was informed about the master plan. Leading the way. With excellence. They talked. About many things. So many things. No limits to the conversation. It went on and on. They had fun. Pure joy in their hearts.

An old woman waited in her house. Expected the painting. Her door was open. The town was not too far anymore. A sign. A concept. A wall. A lesson. He knew where to find the old woman. She was proud of his inner knowing. They entered the house of the old woman. Her eyes were closed. She was sleeping. At least she pretended to be. The wall was empty. The painting became part of the wall. A match made in heaven. The couple followed the painting. They became one with it. The old woman opened her eyes and confirmed the silent agreement. The door closed. A new chapter started. Curls moved. Once more ...
