Accountability + Forgiveness + Gratitude + Love = Ho'oponopono.
Ever heard of this beautiful word 'Ho'oponopono'? Ho'o means cause and pono reflects fairness, balance, humbleness, peace and respect. It is about setting a good intention and being whole. The word pono is repeated to give it more impact. While practicing Ho'oponopono we reestablish peace within ourselves and thus in our outer reality. As the authors from the book 'Zerolimits: the secret Hawaiian system for wealth, health, peace, and more' describe, it is 'a profound gift that allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed, or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past'.
It is true, our memories shape our reality. Deliciously resting in our subconscious mind, memories love to be triggered now and then and add their creative power to our reality. They impact our well-being until the day we consciously decide to let them go. We are accountable for the way we perceive our outer world. A challenge outside of us says something about our inner world. We are invited to look within ourselves to understand what is happening outside of us.
The ability to forgive is essential in following the Ho'oponopono principles. However, it goes beyond normal forgiving where we are separated from each other or feel a victim of circumstances. With Ho'oponopono we leave the world of illusions far behind and enter a space of unity. This brings us closer to the source of all that is. Once we forgive, we free ourselves from all anxieties and memories of the past. What remains, is a space where unconditional love reigns.
How does it work in practice?
There are four basic phrases that we can use as a prayer:
1) I am sorry:
In this stage we recognize our sole responsibility for our own memories. We are the creator of our inner world which is reflected in our outer world.
2) Please forgive me:
We are aware that we judge others - based on our subconscious programs - which results in blaming them. When we see others as the cause of our troubles, we become victims.
3) Thank you:
We express our gratitude to be able to let go our memories so that they lose their toxic content. We free ourselves from all past luggage.
4) I love you:
The most powerful energy is love. It heals all wounds and cleanses all memories. When we say 'I love you' to ourselves we accept all parts within ourselves, and each single memory.
Whatever our opinion on Ho'oponopono, fact is that it is beneficial to see the world through eyes of unconditional love. Imagine that we are all part of a huge global team. The essence of successful team work is that all members feel united and contribute to the well-being of every member and the whole team. What if we look at another person as if he or she was a part of us, would we be more compassionate and supportive to each other? What difference would it make - in our daily lives - to apply magic phrases as 'I am sorry, please forgive me, thank you and I love you'?
Let us transform our reality and become limitless!
