Another Day In Paris.

Another Day In Paris.

Her eyes were closed. 'Son of a bitch' was her only thought. Her bed was a chaos. He arrived yesterday with the last flight coming from Los Angeles. When they met at the airport, she felt akward. His eyes were not smiling as usual. She could read his mind. He observed every move of her. Her high heels were stable. She never lost balance. He scanned her. Without saying a word they walked together to the parking spot. Her car was shining. A new Mercedes. A green one.

When she started the engine, she got a call. She did not say a lot. He watched how her face turned red. She must have been angry. His feet felt an object. He tried to figure out what it was. She was still on the phone. His leather boots made room. Lucchese, the brand for the adventurous soul. Made with love and lots of passion. He saw a bag. He took it. While she was still focused on her conversation, he discovered the content of the bag. A document, glasses, lip gloss.

It reminded him of their days together. Long ago when their passion overwhelmed them. What a life. Back then. His memories returned as migrating birds flying home. The sky was blue. It was cold. There were some clouds. His wrinkles moved. The document seemed interesting. Handwritten. He captured a glimpse of her eyes. She was not paying attention. He read the document. His heart almost stood still. Oh my God. He did not know that.

The call ended. She saw him reading the document. 'No, do not read it!', she screamed. They were in a huge fight. Still in the car. He tried to hit her. She was furious. 'Never do that again!' she yelled at him. He became silent. She stared at her hands. Shaking. The car drove almost automatically to her apartment. The garage was a dark place. They left the car. The apartment did not feel like home. He threw his luggage in a corner.

He felt the need to sleep. The flight was exhausting. The couch was his bed. He did not like it. They started to fight again. They landed in the bedroom. On her bed. The sheets went in all directions. They slept. Not as lovers but as wrestlers. 'Son of a bitch, you selfish man!', she was again yelling at him. He hated it. That is why they ended their relationship. They never could get along. In the beginning there had been peace between their hearts but it ended soon.

The document contained important details. About a business transaction. It was not meant to be read. By him. However, he did and that changed everything. Within the blink of an eye. He lost it. He simply lost it the minute he found out what was mentioned in the document. After an hour of fight, they closed their eyes. The night captured their souls. It was too strong. The wine bottle was empty. Some spots against the walls. Anger and disgust.

It was still early when he looked at her. The light of the sun entered the room. His watch indicated the time. He got up. He took a piece of old bread. It tasted as old paper. He chewed on it. Several times. Then he went to the bathroom. She was still sleeping. He touched the document. Hesitated. Then he closed the door behind him. He saw the streets of Paris. The people in the street were silent. He searched for the address on the document.

She woke up and saw that he had left the apartment. The document was gone. She was mad. 'You, son of a bitch', was the only thought that turned around in her head. The wine that she drank the night before gave her a dizzy feeling. She fell asleep again. Meanwhile he was executing his evil plan. He had no mercy. With her. Not after all those fights. The scene ended just like that. A dark corner, a street full of garbage. What happened to him? His body was damaged.

She did not hear from him and started to worry. The newspapers - a day later - covered the story about a man found dead in the streets of Paris. A US citizen. On his dead body a document. They had no clue. Investigation ongoing. She felt ice cold when she read the article. It must be him. While she was reading the story, he watched her from a corner in the living room. His soul went back to her. His dead body left aside. They were connected forever. His eyes were smiling. She cried.

I didn't want him dead even though he was evil or even though the love was lost. Love never dies Emotions do. I'm lost in my imagination as I go to part II.

Great story Liesbeth and sometimes we make bad companies or run into chaotic relations, but from these experiences order emerges.

Thank you for sharing your tremendous post. Sometimes life is like that, before to realize its singularity. It may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should race fully until the last lap, to accept that certainity, so unknown.
