How He Became The World's Best-Selling Author

How He Became The World's Best-Selling Author

His room was small. Dust all over the place. One single bedroom. Empty and broken wine bottles all around. He did not even like wine. Clothes in all corners of the room. It did not matter anymore. He just wanted to disconnect to the pain inside. His leg hurted. He had no money to see the doctor. His life was a failure on all levels. His love life a mess. The women in his life could not get him. They liked him but they were scared of him. This was not how he wanted things to be. He looked at his watch. A gift from his grandfather. He passed away long ago. It was the only gift that he did not sell. He simply could not. His heart would break. The sadness felt heavy to bear. His shoulders were down. His neighbours neglected him. Not really sure how to deal with him.

He closed his eyes. The window was open. A butterfly entered. Talking to a butterfly felt easy to do. In this mood. He expressed all his anger, frustration and sadness. The butterfly listened carefully. At least, in his imagination. Finally, someone who took a bit of their private time to give him the attention he craved for. The butterfly was in the right place at the right time. Almost like an angel. He cried. Powerless. His parents were living in another part of town. He could not talk to them about his worries. They would never understand him. He had to become a lawyer as everyone in his family. He refused to do so and now he just had to live with the consequences. Doomed. The door of his parents' house closed that summer day a year ago. He never returned.

He never realized that a heart can give such deep pain and still keep on beating. If he would have been his own heart, he simply would have given up on life. As long as the butterfly was listening, he shared his deepest feelings with it. The wings of the butterfly did not move. As if it carefully registered every word of the conversation. The man continued. The butterfly covered the whole story. The story was incredibly dark and sad. This man really felt small. He took another glass of wine. The glass half empty. His tongue was dry. His lips full of scars. He felt sorry for himself. What was wrong with him? He tried to write a book. Some pages were filled with words, others left empty. The isolation was killing him. He looked at a calendar. The butterfly watched his eyes. A tear escaped. The last tear. Giving in to gravity.

The wine made him sleepy. He could not resist going to his bed. He could not think anymore. The sheets were dirty and full of holes. He could not afford a decent place, nor decent furniture. This was a scene from hell. He was silent now. No sign of life. The butterfly took its chance. It landed on his heart. To get the last pieces of the puzzle. Every detail counted. Hours later, when the darkness of the night entered the room, the butterfly left the room. The man slept. The butterfly visited a factory. A giant device welcomed the butterfly. The butterfly explained the situation. The owner of the giant device did not doubt one second. This was an emergency. The words of the story hidden inside the wings of the butterfly left their place. The device took care of it. A book was created. Page per page. Chapter after chapter.

Never ever before such a book was created. An image was selected. The butterfly did not rest before the outcome was visible. Stardust cover. The scent of success added. The team was smiling, they had done their utmost best to make a special edition. A billion copies were made. Ready to be transported in all corners of the world. The name of the man on the cover, a sexy picture too. Dressed in the perfect outfit. Handsome as a man can be. The butterfly was grateful for the cooperation. Christmas approached. People in the streets looking for a special gift for their loved ones. The man walked in the streets as well. In his dream he saw himself from a distance. He seemed happy. His wife holding his hand.

He woke up. His hand felt an object. It was a book. The face of the author was familiar to him. His brain reacted. His ability to recognize returned. The wine turned into fresh water. The small room replaced by a luxurious mansion. The butterfly had become a force of luck and prosperity. He saw many letters from readers all over the world. They loved his book. An invitation from a publisher in New York. When would he have the time to discuss the celebration for his best-selling book? His dreams had come true. When he least expected it. His wife called his name. A little boy was drawing a picture. The wings of a butterfly colored with love. His parents were watching their grandson. Proud of their sweetheart. The day he said goodbye to his painful memories and trusted the butterfly, his whole world changed. He allowed a billion good things to enter his life. The universe put a smile on his face. His eyes turned into shining diamonds.
