Management Nuggets: Focus
People have goals or call it dreams. What is in a name? We have the full right and freedom to use the words that suit us most. As long as these words feel good to us. But not all of us are soaring, using these words. How come? The reason is … that it is easy to come up with an idea, a concept but we need to do the extra mile to put life into our goals and dreams. The fish does not wait for the bold eagle to be caught. Nor does it learn how to fly to meet the needs of the eagle.
Now, we can take the longer road to get there and let ourselves be distracted by all kind of things. That takes time. A lot of time. And time is precious. Time is money. One thing is sure, we will get there where we want to be. It depends solely on us, when we get there. It is written in the stars that the bold eagle will catch the fish. No single doubt. But if he was having a side occupation and was more interested in looking at his glorious wings, he would find it harder to get what he wants.
One of the strongest assets of the eagle is his focus. So we hardly hear a story about an eagle that did not execute his plan efficiently and effectively. It is in his very nature to do what he is meant to do. He catches. The fish. All fishes that he sets his mind on. His energy is focused. On his goal. Nothing - read nothing - prevents the eagle from soaring. Time after time. Again and again.
Yes, this is a wake up call for all of us. Who need it. Let us look honestly at where we are and where we want to be. Are we creating excuses or blaming circumstances or other people because we are not yet where we are supposed to be? Let us no longer settle for mediocracy. That belongs to the past. If we choose mediocracy, our whole life reflects the same and we repeat that pattern everywhere we go.
Let us strive for the excellence of the bold eagle and create what really is aligned to our full potential. Let us eliminate every doubt, fear and worry that we will not make it. The eagle is only focused on one thing. He is aware that focus is the key and the reward at the same time. The fish is used to be the prey. It takes pride in swimming elegantly in the deep waters. When the eagle notices him, it only means that it has served its purpose. Nurturing others with humbleness.
The eagle and the fish, a story that goes on and on. We all have a choice in life that nobody can take for us. Once we choose, the world around us changes. For the good. Let us show our Wings. Or let us swim in deep waters. The decision is ours. Nature loves us, whatever we do or not do. But to ensure that we become who we truly are, it is good to look in the mirror and ask ourselves if we really commit for excellence or just settle for mediocracy? We know the answer deep inside. No, we do not need to be perfect, but we deserve to be the best version of ourselves. By accepting our human side while being aware of our progress and making adjustments, we will make the difference for ourselves and others. The truth will set us free.
