Rock And Roll.

Rock And Roll.

He had enough of it. His marriage was not working. Suddenly the boat was sinking. Deeper than the Titanic. From queen to bitch. She was a pain in the ass. She did not seem to get him. He was trying hard to be understood. She failed. His job was a series of frustrations. His colleagues did not care. His boss only focused on personal gain and a skyrocketing career. Automatic events. It became a tool to pay the bills. Nothing more. The spark was gone. His kids were lovely. He recognized parts of himself and her in them. He did not regret that he made love to her. At least as many times as they had children. Then the fire seemed to be gone. Was this it? Was his life meant to be so hard?

He closed his eyes. He did not want to continue like this. Seeking a way out. He was in the sleeping room. His family watching television. He had to make a decision. A big one. Facing the facts. Happily ever after was not the label that he got. It was a disaster. The luggage became far too heavy. He started to visualize his dreams. Checking within what he wanted. He did not want to be a slave of the circumstances anymore. His spirit walked away from the bed and watched her. She looked angry. Most probably she was fighting with him. In her mind. His children were looking at a movie. They were lost in their imagination.

Could they do without him? Was he still needed? She had a good job. Fortunate family. The children were doing fine at school. Money was not an issue for her. If only he could turn the page. He would never marry again. Could he leave his marriage and his job? The thought of it made him feel more alive. Freedom was knocking at his door. He longed for it so much. He wanted to feel alive again. Doing only the things that were fully in line with his soul. He realized that he would develop a serious disease when he would stay in this awful chapter. His energy was slowly extinguishing. It was the best for everyone if he would commit to himself first.

He would leave everything behind. He was ready. The next morning he talked to her. It was cold. In the kitchen. The coffee did not taste well. She had tears in her eyes. She stopped crying. He saw how she became a little girl again. Afraid to be left alone. He knew that she would survive. She was brave. The children were independent. She said she loved him. He did not botter. The feeling was gone. He could not return the love. Not anymore. She looked at the floor. Said nothing. She felt hurted. He wanted to get out. It was suffocating him. He took a bag and some clothes. The door closed. She stared into her cup of coffee. Forgot everything around her.

With each step in the outside world, his force was coming back. Relieved. Finally unchained. This time - for the rest of his life - he would always put himself first. It had been a mistake to conform to the norms of others. He was a free spirit. Not a robot. He loved to travel. Learning and trying new things. Seeing the world. All parts of it. Meeting with like-minded people. His face changed. A smile appeared. From behind the dark clouds. His happiness was returning. OMG, why not earlier? Why had he postponed this decision? Most probably all processes take their time. He had to be ready to start a new life. His thoughts went shortly back to his previous life. His former wife and his kids.

She was laughing. The children were calm and balanced. In the kitchen there was a picture of him. Her hero. She was proud of him. She always had known that he would leave her. After they made children. She was attracted to his free spirit. She was sad to see how he had changed. From a man with the strongest personality and pride into a shadow of himself. When he announced that he would leave them, she did not resist too much. She could let go. She loved him that much. He never forget them. They received his greeting cards from every part of the world. His happiness was brought to them, as a precious gift from the universe. His life became rock and roll again. She was grateful that he once loved her soul much.

! The writer presents what's going on, negative or positive both sides. Both are realities, and a writer translates them in words. This story presents exactly what goes in somebody's life somewhere or anywhere. You did it in an excellent way Liesbeth. You're so true in your writings, and this is a sign of a high quality writer. The genuine writings touch the heart and cause the feelings to come in life.. That's what your writings do. :-) Should I say keep it up?

#30 Your writings hit the senses and feelings, exactly like real life events . They compel me feel as if I'm there somewhere. In this story, though I felt I was there, but imagine if I were there, the story would be a bit different :-)

Then don't write in such a way that makes me feel as if it's real! Simple solution :-) . You have awakened my displeasure and rage about that coward. :-)

you made me laugh Qamar Ali Khan imagine that all actors of a scene came alive, what would happen then and what would we say to them?

oh oh oh Qamar Ali Khan, lucky for him he is just a character in a written scene, otherwise he would have to question his behavior.

That's what he thinks . I don't take it a realistic reason. It's an excuse he developed himself to run away from responsibilities. He still is coward in my eyes. He wanted to escape, and he started developing justifications. Her tears are a proof to negate his thoughts. His kids' joys are a proof that he is in a false imagination. He looked a very self-centered.

@yes Joyce \ud83d\udc1d Bowen there are things that happen in life - it leaves us with question marks - but they say 'everything happens for a reason'.

thank you Qamar Ali Khan, I do not think he is a coward. I think he is brave enough to let go what does not belong to him. His family is strong enough. His children independent. He is a hero in their hearts. He showed them that leaving can also be a form of deep love.
OH, Liesbeth. Thank you for such a moving read. I just woke up, yet this was still able to grab me. So sad, but a representation of something that happens all too often. It is tragic when people cease to communicate.

This is something so real, but with a pinching pain ! Your skill to to twist the scenes with your magic style dominates the story. But I'm really amazed of this character. It's such a wonderful depiction of the real life facts. If somebody is not capable to fulfill their responsibilities, they must not accept it. He looked a coward to me, in fact. Great story once again Liesbeth, beautifully presented!

Ali Anani, Brand Ambassador of beBee well, I am sure even among people with good intentions, there could be a good reason. You never know. Everyone takes decisions, each day, and lives with the consequences. Between black and white there are many shades.

We make children attitude and then leave them is unfair to others, even if fair for self. We make children and we may make better everyday. But, lost spirits can't make children grow happily. I just wonder if everyone would do the same where do we end up with? You make me feel the tension

Pascal Derrien, well if someone is in the 'whats in it for me' modus, it is better that he or she leaves because everyone deserves to be surrounded by all that is true: love, friendship, honesty, respect, ect.

I kind of think that people give up too easily and that there is too much of whats in it for ME in the equation :-) Now sometimes leaving is the only solution but it seems to come first not as a last resort my two cents :-)

Pascal Derrien, they say that you do not have to run after things. What belongs to you and your life will always find its way back. Working harder, just might push things further away. What do you think?

His happiness returning I wonder if it is a temporary feeling, a perception, a quick fix, would it not be worth fighting harder , trying harder to make things work worth another shot or is that it .... next kleenex please :-)

"This time - for the rest of his life - he would always put himself first. It had been a mistake to conform to the norms of others" - I had done this 2 years ago and haven't regretted the choice but sometimes have missed the relationships lost on the way. It is indeed the most honest thing we can do for ourselves. It isn't called being selfish , It is called Living.
