The Authentic Watch
Once upon a time in a long forgotten world a unique and precious watch was made by hand. With utmost care. It was authentic and revealed the real time. Unfortunately, the price was too high. No buyer could afford the rare object. When the maker died, the watch ended up in a black velvet box and nobody missed it. The watch slept. It was patient. There was time enough to act later on. The humans that lived in the village were happy and content. Since the watch was made invisible they followed their own rhythm. Nobody complained. Life was good.
A guest entered the village and observed the whole. He was surprised that nobody was wearing a watch. He asked the time. Everyone told him the same story. The answer was: 'The time is now'. He did not understand the meaning of that answer and he continued to seek more information about this strange experience. He discovered the house of the old watchmaker. It had become a museum. The guest was curious and paid the price to visit the house. Maybe here he would find out the truth.
An oceangreen gemstone fell down and made the right sound to catch his attention. He bended over to take it in his hands. Right in that moment, the black velvet box planned to enter the scene. It was written in the script. A light crossed the eyes of the guest so that he noticed the box. He looked at the watch and was overwhelmed. He never had seen such a gorgeous object. The time was on hold. He could not move the arrows of the watch. They seemed heavy like stone. In the box he discovered also a handwritten note. The watchmaker probably added it to the box a long time ago.
Finally he would reveal the mystery of the village, he thought. The words were dancing on the note. As if they were singing an ancient melody. His ears tried to keep up with the lyrics. The song entered his heart. With love. He felt a sudden peace. In between the lines he was receiving information from an unknown source. He had to promise not to share it with other humans. He had no other choice than to obey. The unknown source told him the ancient secret of all time and space. He was blessed.
He left the museum with the black velvet box in his hand. The watch was ready for the new adventure. The guest smiled at everyone that he met along the road. When someone asked him the time, he replied with a humble voice: 'The time is now' and he seemed happier than ever. The future and the past did not play a role in the screenplay of his life anymore, they were simply gone. The present moment was empowered and got starry eyes. The guest never revealed the secret to anyone. He and his authentic watch lived happily ever after.
