The End Note. In The Book Of Life.

Yesterday I attended a funeral. It was a respectful service that truly honored the person exactly as she was. She has lived as a bright example. Always. Throughout her whole life. Always supportive. Helping others. A humble giving hand. She did not become famous. She did not have the highest title. She was not the leading manager in a multinational. She was not in the newspapers. She simply was a compassionate mother for her children, a loving partner and a genuinely caring human being towards others. She offered her true love to the ones that crossed her path. She really listened to others and invited them to share their joy and sadness with her. Meaningless to say that the church was full of people that wanted to bring a last present of gratitude to this beautiful woman. She will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends. Forever.

When the book of life is closing and the end note is created - by the mystery of life - we become silent. Very silent. Deep within. We hear our own voice. For once. All things are put into perspective. Just like that. We sometimes worry about things that are meaningless. We are good at creating drama. From time to time. We see obstacles. We complain about the weather. Our patience is lost. We are stubborn and refuse to talk to people that have hurted us. We see the world through our glasses and people have to meet our requirements. It is only in precious moments like a funeral that we realize we have a limited time on earth. How can we use this gift in the best way possible? What will be our legacy? How will we be remembered?

The beautiful woman that passed away, was and is an angel in the heart of many. She will forever be loved. During the funeral, the sun was shining in the most magnificent way. I believe it was a sign of her. To tell us, that she will continue her good deeds and that she has found peace. She looks at us from a higher perspective. What about you?

From the heart, you wrote ! I hope I have no regrets at the end of my life. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend but it appears you are taking with you the best, her 'sunshine' which did shine down on everyone! I think when many of us lose someone close to us we also hope they had no regrets and if they did, I can only hope they were able to share their regrets and talk through them. I think we realize how precious life is the moment we lose someone precious and even then, it may take time for the message to sink in. I love your photo, it's beautiful and filled with energy! Cyndi wilkins Thank you and stay awesome forever. Stay blessed and a big hug to you. Whenever anyone writes a eulogy with so much love it makes me smile just to think how much love that person must have contributed to you that she ended up being known to a person somewhere in the world after her time on earth. She is probably smiling down with a couple of people I know and believe as angels with some of the lovely people I've come to know through their loved ones on beBee. You ask how to stop feeding future regrets. The only thing I do now is let everyone I love know, how much I love them and thereby trying to avoid those future regrets. However I think the lovely will have something hearty to share with us. Cyndi i hope you don't mind the tag ❤

Regret accompanies a life that is well lived or it can be viewed as a disease that one must eradicate. Consequently if my cause was to take actions to stop "future regrets" I might end up regretting following that cause. Personally, an individual who created the "Happiness Project" and now is a thought leader in the area of happiness (Grethin Ruben) wrote an interesting piece about "regret". http://gretchenrubin.com/happiness_project/2011/05/can-a-negative-emotion-like-regret-actually-help-make-you-happier-i-think-so/ I also invariably in terms of the subject of 'regret' go back to the classic scene played by Danny Devito in "The Big Kahuna", which is today called the "Character Speech" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PkOc-B64dY The only value of the answers we give to this question informs us the capacity of heart, mind and spirit and then the first two lessons from that for me is to learn how best to level-set and recognize the absolute danger of telling others how to live their life. If my life ends up amounting to telling others how to live their life - then that may end up being my greatest future regret. Yet how do I know that now. I absolutely do not and I am OK living with that as a living uncertainty if it means this is a learning journey.

Make a list, work it every day, and treat it as if there's no tomorrow ...... because one day there won't be. Funerals are sad and often beg our 'whys' but they serve to sharpen our focus on life so that we aren't left with 'what ifs'.
