The Vision Quest

Only in the forest, he truly felt at home, at peace with mother earth. Far away from the living world. A cabin with simple pleasures, no material possessions to distract his mind. No more desires. He felt a kinship with his fellow creatures that have found their shelter there too. Pure sounds. Ocean of calmness. Here he was able to breathe again. Slowly. Smoothly. The world outside was sometimes such a mix of heavy impressions. Downloading and throwing away the expectations of his civilized environment. Now and then he had to spend some days in the woods to recalibrate himself. Being in touch with nature, gave him back his faith that life was not so bad after all. A simple life is the greatest gift to cherish. He loved to observe the animals. All present in the now. Living life in the most natural way. No complex circumstances.

This time he was here for a specific reason. He needed to make an important decision. One that would steer his life in a new direction. Changes in the air. He felt that the time was right to look at all options. A cozy spot under the tree. Beautiful. His mind turned in all directions. What if ... he would change his standard approach? What if he would choose a path that was atypical for him? He realized that if he would always follow the same path, the outcome would remain the same. A new way of thinking was required to reach a new destination. He had nothing to lose. For the moment nobody to take into account. His cards were excellent. Sitting on a dock, with feet dangling in the water, thinking ... the water was cool and refreshing, just like the thoughts in his head. No thought of hunger - his body was being nurtured by sun, wind, water and earth - nature.  His spirit was leading.

Days spent staring at the lake and evenings staring into the camp fire. The fire is a mystery of shapes and movements, all there to relax his brain in order to quickly find answers. His eyes turned bigger. He was in a sort of trance. Trying to get connected to his soul. The answers were stored deep inside. A refreshed vision. Images. Words. Sounds. A world on its own. Faces of people he met and maybe of people he will meet soon. Mysterious process. He carefully scanned his observations, looking for the key that would unlock his future. Goose bumps. The sign arrived. The light of the fire became more intense. His ancestors were present. They were his best spiritual advisors. Their presence reassured him. He felt a sudden breeze. A bird watched him. His wings were powerful. He unfolded them fully. A small map appeared. A location was marked. He saw his destination. This journey inwards was so supportive. He closed his eyes to see more ...
