They Met In A Bar. An Ordinary Bar. At First Glimpse.
They met in a bar. An ordinary bar. At first glimpse. They said that it was a coincidence. Do not always believe the rumours. Or tricks of the mind. Maybe it really was meant to be. Maybe not. As with all things in life the truth would show its true colors. One day. Time enough. It did not really matter. He played with a coin. On a wooden table. She looked at his wrinkled fingers. Ugly, but he had had a tough life. Who was she to judge him? Judgment only a lack of self-love. Truth in a nutshell. She took a sip of her cold beer.
He continued to play with that coin. As if he was looking for an answer. She patiently waited until he was done with it. The other people in the bar were focused on their own stuff. They let them in peace. With her fingers she touched the glass. Slowly. Almost in trance. Maybe to find some tranquility. Who knows? Suddenly the coin fell from the table. Out of his hands. Into the unknown. The controlling part was over. The art of surrendering presented itself in the moment. He felt it right away.
She wanted to support him and tried to grab the coin. Her shoe touched it. In vain. The sound of the bar changed. The circumstances followed the dance. All eyes on them. They felt the tension from all angles. The colors of the scene faded away. Like a painter that want to start all over again. Throwing the colors on a pile to mix and mingle. For the better. Best. Nobody dared to say one word. The bar was frozen. In time. Nobody in, nobody out. Part of a whole. Heartbeats in silence. Afraid to talk.
The time played a game with them. A wicked one. A unique set of rules. Owned by the master mind. The setting took what it needed. From space. The furniture remained the same. The painter decided. Loved his choice. The glass of beer moved first. Embraced the touch of her fingers. Her body filled the space before he could speak again. Their minds a story set apart. Bit by bit, new colors appeared. Their eyes saw the novelty. They never realized how special this place was. The coin lying on the floor. No force whatsoever. Role played. Game over. They started a conversation. The man and the woman. Sitting in front of each other.
Surely they met in a bar. Not just a bar. A bar with dimensions too wide to describe. The people in the bar looked at the couple. With eyes wide open. Did they just witness some out-of-the-world experience? Memories fading away. They did not serve anymore. Plans being made. Put into actions. He took a sheet of paper. Noted down the words that really mattered. She trusted his way. Gave him room for it all. The glass of beer was a quiet witness, but a fine one. The owner of the bar closed his eyes. Opened them again. The view remained the same. The sun cleared up the space. He admitted his love for her. Just like that.
She looked into his soul. He saw the answer. 'I love you back', was written in the stars of her eyes. He felt good. About himself. He faced his own darkness. To find the light from within. She was the prize, the award. He had finally found the courage to let old things go. It changed the storyline. From the very end to the bright new beginning. He did not have to beg for her love. It was present. Had always been there. His soul could finally breathe again. Same with her. They disappeared together in the light of day. The other ones overwhelmed with the taste of what can be reality. For them as well. All stories born that day, became the greatest. Following their traces. The coin. No longer needed.
