Thoughts That Do Not Belong To Us

Thoughts That Do Not Belong To Us

The human mind is such a fascinating device. I can dive into its vaste ocean of powerful insights, come out, do something else that I care for and then crave to spend some time within that treasure again. One lifetime probably does not cover all the jewels we can collect, understand and apply to make our lives better and the once we touch in a most humble way. The mind produces thoughts, that is not new. But were you aware that some thoughts are really none of your business? Some of them came to put a layer on our true potential. They are stored somewhere hidden and give meaning to our world. We believe it and act upon it.

Sometimes we are lucky to uncover the truth. That thought is then caught in the act. After that it will soon be a meaningless piece of dust. We can see it leave our home of thoughts. The door is wide open for it to go and never return. We can be grateful for the lessons learned. When we stumble upon such creation of the mind of someone else we know we have made progress as a human being. We are indeed connected to the people and minds around us, that is a beautiful idea. However, let us take care of the thoughts we put out there. Let us never belittle ourselves, nor others and genuinely watch our thoughts.

The thoughts that do not belong to us, are not meant to stay. They only crossed our path to share valuable information with us. They tell a story about how people before us, were living their lives and what they believed was true. We need to listen to what they are whispering and then see for ourselves what is our truth. When we feel in peace with our truth, we have become more of ourselves. We belong more to ourselves. It is the most beautiful way to produce more thoughts, as they have now more space to be with us. Good thoughts always generate more of the same. To recognize thoughts that do not belong to us, we need to be bold enough to look deeper than we are used to do.

At first sight we see a painted wall. It seems right. The wall 'looks' serene and in peace. We are used to see this room. We do not know better. It is our home, right? One day, when the motion of transformation sets in, the wall shows a sudden change. Something is breaking down. We touch the wall and the painting loses grip. We pull ... and something else appears. There is another color behind the first color. It can be the total opposite of what we believed. A different meaning asks our undivided attention. We are asked to do our homework. What if this thought was a false belief? What consequences would this have on our lives? One thing is sure, the truth of the matter will set us free.

Once we are confronted with the 'thoughtsthatdonotbelongtous' we create more compassion to others. We are aware that we all are functioning according to the same mind games. We are all subject to identical principles. We can forgive each other more easily when something happens that disturbs our peace. Who knows what the person is thinking deep inside of his or her own mind without being aware of it? Only if we really know the rules of the game, we can escape the dance of the robot mind. Let us all be more mindful and embrace all moments where we have the chance to spot a thought that has stumbled upon its boundaries of time and space. Let it go and seek a new shelter. Oh and one last thing, do you notice the new and more sparkling colors? The colors of the room have changed for good ...

Preston \ud83d\udc1d Vander Ven thank you for that great quote. I learn from this that we are always able. God, the universe will foresee all what we need in this life to be happy and make others happy. It only takes true commitment to be who we really are.

A jewel of a buzz, lovely . I don't believe half the thoughts that come into my head! I have developed the air traffic controller approach: Those thoughts that don't serve are denied landing rights. Alas, they do still circle....gotta work on getting them off the grid entirely. You make excellent suggestions!

writes elegantly and defines what mindset is. When our mindsets turn into robots and how to avoid this. Liesbeth offers a suggestion " Who knows what the person is thinking deep inside of his or her own mind without being aware of it? Only if we really know the rules of the game, we can escape the dance of the robot mind".

hi Randall Burns I added a sentence now, so that that phrase is more clear, thank you for having asked that. It refers to our ability to see with new eyes, based on new beliefs. Many thanks for your wonderful comments!

Great post with a wonderful message I have to say that I don't quite understand your last sentence/question; "Oh and one last thing, do you notice the new and more sparkling colors?" Does that have to do with our perceptions after we've released the "thoughts that aren't ours? (admittedly I'm getting old and my eyesight is not what it used to be :-))
