Unique View
What if we are all climbing our own mountain(s) in life? If we do, then we need to take a break now and then to look down or up at where we have arrived. Just to reflect on our lives and the lessons we were offered. Just before the Christmas holidays and before the new year starts, seems a perfect moment. Looking back and then looking forward with new eyes. Sometimes everything gets a different cover. It depends on what we are ready to see. We always are invited to discover new sides to our unique landscape.
So here we are at the mountain. It is peaceful out here. Only the sky and the birds - from a higher perspective - can recall how we feel and think from this viewpoint. They were with us all along. They went with us through every single experience and watched how we reacted or responded. Sometimes they were surprised, other times they were silent, but they were alongside us. In the heat of the moment. Now the sky and the birds play with colors, and shapes. To demonstrate that they are alive. Part of a whole.
We watch the screen and see memories passing by. Painful ones and touching ones. One by one. The movie of the year. It is clear that the newest version of us has learned a lot. We became bigger and better. Made mistakes and grew stronger. On other mountaintops, we see other unique beings going through a similar process. It is all fine. It is all good. We did what we could do best, living our lives, the best we can or we think we can. The lessons are gathered and have built a chapter in the book of our life. Almost time to close it and start anew.
Someone holds the rights to the unique script that we are. The key should be in our own hands. Let life be a conscious choice. The book tells a story, if we are blessed, the story continues … Our imagination runs wild. The unknown smiles. The creator has had many ideas already and he will steer us in the right direction. With a gentle touch. We cannot control everything but one thing is sure, we do not need to control, because life is not about control, it is about unfolding our unique wings as birds do. Just wing it and fly.

Wow, what a beautiful and insightful piece! I completely agree that it's important to take a step back from our daily lives and reflect on our journey so far. It's amazing to think about how much we've learned and grown over time, even from the painful experiences. I especially love the analogy of climbing our own mountains in life and the idea that we all have a unique script to our lives. It's up to us to hold the key and make conscious choices to continue our story in the direction we want. Thank you for sharing this uplifting message!

The picture sparks memories upon memories of holidays spent in Switzerland. They may not be truly unique but it is great to relive them.
Thank you for prompting me to recall them.

An insight-full question Liesbeth 😇
What if we ARE all climbing our own mountain(s) in life?
We all have challenges and some can seem like mountains.
As I read your “Unique View” 🍯💛💛🍯 these inspirations came to me mind.
“The man at the top of the mountain did not fall there” Leonardo Da Vinci
The goal is not to reach the tops of mountains, but to improve the man. - Walter Bonatti (Italian climber)
“Climbing to the top of a mountain is not a victory - it’s a privilege. Mountains are not conquered .. Victory and glory come from conquering yourself.”
“What matters is that I lived & I let it change me” - Lygon Stevens
I especially love Lygon Stevens: a 20-year old college student and mountaineer who perished in an avalanche in January 2008 while climbing in southern Colorado with her brother.
I was moved to tears many times watching the docudrama created as a LEGACY of her young life ..
“The Time to Live is Now”
I do agree “life is not about control”.. there is far too MUCH beyond our control
Though wisdom understands the value of self-control.
“But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” - Galatians 5:22-23
I love the concept of “flying” .. In fact “I DREAM of flying”

Your Matterhorn pic, Liesbeth, looks way too imposing for most of us to climb, but, as you say, we all have our own mountains. Back in my youth I used to climb in the Cairngorm Mountains of Scotland. There is nothing like the achievement of reaching the summit, after a long hard slog upwards, to then be rewarded with the 360 degree view that the expenditure of energy and prolonged discomfort brings to the achievement, allowing us to soar on a seemingly endless high (both metaphorical and literal). It's such a pity that so many of us choose to remain cocooned in our comfort zones, fearing to engage in the hardships (whether physical or mental) that life throws across our paths. By taking the level contouring path, rather than the steeply ascending one, we will never experience that moment of euphoria at the peak of our journey, when we briefly soar like an eagle.
