Role Overview


We are looking for:

Are you a motivated team player who is looking to be part of a dynamic Global Procurement Team?

Are you interested in managing procurement packages like professional services and/or the mobility package, conducting negotiations and implementing contracts within corporate procurement guidelines?


This opportunity will allow you to be a constructive problem solver who will work on a daily basis with Global Procurement colleagues and other internal stakeholders across multiple Functions and Global Business Units to improve procurement performance and to roll out negotiated contracts or projects.

Business partnering

  • Coordinate and lead internal project teams to ensure timely completion of goals and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop market & customer needs knowledge
  • Collect relevant financial and regulatory information, and follow market trends within your segments and other support segments, perform market research and identify and analyze potential suppliers.
  • Collect, analyze and anticipate the demands and needs of internal customers and prescribers and integrate them into Category Strategies and projects.

Strategic planning

  • Follow market trends & become a market expert for the categories within your portfolio.
  • Stay current on information regarding key suppliers and competitors.
  • Drive the creation, development & integration of Category Strategies.
  • Identify & develop strategies with appropriate Functions and Global Business Units to design effective collaborative or commercial savings projects in spend areas of responsibility
  • Building a roadmap, define the priorities, projects and action plans, and identify the resources

  • Execute projects and action plans after approval.

Contract negotiations & -management

  • Develop RFx and initiate sourcing strategies based on results of market analysis, emerging trends and proven technologies all in line with the various business objectives of Solvay.
  • Support and lead major negotiations within your perimeter
  • Formalize the contracts and service level agreements (SLA's) and KPI's with suppliers
  • Deploy the contracts within your own perimeter and communicate to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Organize and participate in supplier evaluation and define action plans for the suppliers.
  • Create contingency plans in order to handle service, delivery or quality problems.
  • Ensure the correct administration of procurement documents, respecting defined procedures.

You will bring:


  • Strong negotiation and business analysis skills.
  • Experience in an international environment.
  • Selfstarter that requires little oversight
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, change gears quickly, analyze, assess and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to demonstrate a consistent approach to working with others, have a high degree of honesty, integrity and ethics
  • Good working knowledge of current and leading edge technologies in Procurement and eBusiness tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and networking skills.
  • 35 years of Procurement experience related to the purchase of a variety of different packages, preferably in the chemical or similar industry.
  • Master in Business/Management or Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent by experience.
  • Broad based understanding and experience negotiating contracts within the indirect spend domain.
  • Strong business/commercial experience in conducting negotiations, maintaining good business relationships and establishing strategic alliances.
