R&D SCIENTIST

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Conduct work in a safe, respectful and ethical manner. Proactively support safe working environment and assess all potential hazards.
  • Interface with regulatory requirements in various industries.
  • Drive innovation that enriches Avient's intellectual property portfolio:
  • Research technical trends and provide unique and patentable solutions for customers.
  • Perform literature and patent searches to guide experimentation &/or partner with our analysts.
  • Presents technical work to customers and various levels of management.
  • Buildup relevant product & process knowledge to achieve objectives.
  • Work in multifunctional projects teams & provide important scientific contributions.
  • Write technical reports & give technical presentations to various audiences at conferences.
  • Build up collaboration efforts with internal and/or external experts.
  • Actively interface with and across our organization to develop custom polymer formulations and & or processes adhering to customer specifications, quality requirements, and operational goals and standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource to other team members locally or globally.
  • Identify raw material and other functional specifications to meet customer requirements.
  • Partner with manufacturing with scale up, process testing plans and procedures, data analysis and/or communication of the results.
  • Work in closed collaboration with our suppliers to understand & convey OEMs needs as well as innovation trends.
  • Support the establishment of key programs in collaboration with marketing & commercial functions.
  • Conduct and troubleshoot materials and testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • You have preferably PhD or a master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, material science with a focus on polymer materials.
  • 35 years of experience in the field of polymer science, within the area of high temperature polymers and/or fluoropolymers.
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and within a team.
  • Strong analytical & problemsolving skills.
  • Project management capability & good communication skills
  • Driven by passion to succeed.
  • Be able to work in a multifunctional environment.
  • Fluent in English. French is an asset.
  • Selfmotivated team player with an ability to multitask.
  • High sense of urgency and initiative.
