Company Information:

TOYOTA is one of the world's largest automobile manufacturers and a leading global corporation. Founded in 1937. Toyota now sells vehicles in 170 countries and employs over people. Based in Brussels, Belgium, and staffed by 2.700 people and more than 60 nationalities, Toyota Motor Europe (TME) handles the wholesale marketing of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, parts & accessories, and manages Toyota's European R&D, manufacturing, and engineering operations.

We are excited to be transforming into a mobility company focusing on bringing even more happiness to our customers through various mobility solutions.

Your team and your responsibilities:

Team/division description
***TME R&D centre is responsible for planning, development and production support of vehicles aimed at - and locally produced for - the European market.

The Vehicle Comfort team is part of the Vehicle Performance Engineering division (VPE) and is responsible for the development of the vehicle NVH (Noise, Vibration and harshness), driveability and thermal comfort.

We aim at the development of attractive and "fun to drive" cars matching European market requirements and customer expectations.

Using state-of-the art experimental and numerical methods, we develop strategies to achieve the targets, and validate them on virtual and physical prototypes.

Your project

Title:
"Customer-centric target setting by data science method"

Traditionally targets for vehicle comfort for future vehicles are decided based on several inputs, among others e.g. internal and external benchmarking data, and driving data of current mass production vehicles.

Over the past years, more and more of Toyota and Lexus vehicles have been equipped with data capturing systems, allowing to acquire a big amount of driving data (RTBD, Real Time Big Data) from our customers.

This gives the opportunity to have a better understanding of real customer vehicle usage and help us to set more customer-centric targets for our future vehicles.

In this project, you will exploit this driving data from our vehicles, to support target setting for future vehicles.

Specifically, using Python, you will perform data analysis of the data extracted from an existing platform, and correlated it with data related to the driver's profile, to use it to identify relations and improve our understanding how different customer profiles are using their vehicles, both in terms of static and dynamic features.

This learning will be reflected towards future Toyota BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) development.
