ERC-funded postdoc position in molecular genetics: Unravelling the eukaryotic post-transcriptional regulatory code:

Job description:

Are you interested in unraveling a central, yet understudied mechanism in eukaryotic cells? Join our multidisciplinary and international team to perform ground-breaking research aimed at understanding how cells control gene activity and protein expression.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral scientist with a PhD in biological engineering, molecular biology, genetics and/or microbiology (or equivalent).

You will join a young and motivated international team of scientists working on regulatory genomics, within the framework of the European Research Council (ERC)-funded Synergy Grant EPIC.

This exciting project aims to understand how cells control gene activity and protein expression, which is crucial to understanding how cells function.

You will study transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation leveraging the unparalleled molecular toolbox of the eukaryotic model system _Saccharomyces cerevisiae_ and other eukaryotic fungal species.

You will perform innovative assays to probe the cells across all layers of gene regulation (i.e. chromatin, DNA, RNA and protein level) under different environmental conditions.

Profile:

Essential

You have a PhD degree in biotechnology, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or a related field
You are familiar with data analysis using R
You are fluent in English, for both written and oral communication
You are an enthused team player who is open and respectful to other cultures, opinions and ways of life
You are accurate and critical of your work and its implementation
You are willing to participate in the general lab organization
You have a strong ability to multitask and meet timelines

Desirable but not required

Experience with yeast molecular biology (PCR, transformation, largescale assays) is considered a strong plus
