Main Responsibilities

As
Legal Counsel (Mandatory languages - EN/FR):


  • You will be based in Brussels and report to the Chief Legal Officer, Europe. We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel able to deliver proactive legal advice and support to all business units, contracts and functions throughout the Serco business lifecycle, ensuring the provision of high-quality in-house counsel in support of their objectives. You will be accountable for executing the legal strategy and the objectives set by the Chief Legal Officer.
This role includes, but is not limited to, following tasks and activities:

1.

Commercial Contracts, risk assessment and bid management:


  • Participate to the required bidding process.
  • Perform contract reviews, draft contractual bid responses.
  • Prepare contractual summaries and risk reports for governance.
  • Ensure bid teams and relevant governance forums have assessed and understood legal obligations and risks and advise on development of mitigation plans, as appropriate.
  • Document terms of agreement with partners and subcontractors (i.e., NDAs, Teaming Agreements, Consortium and Subcontracting Agreements).
  • Ensuring appropriate flow down of terms into Supplier Contracts in collaboration with Procurement.
  • Develop and deliver contracts & commercial awareness training/workshops.
  • Equip contract teams with contracts & commercial processes, tools and knowledge.
  • Manage 'material' contract changes in related customer and key subcontractor documentation.

2.

Ethics& Compliance Group's policies and procedures:


  • Implementation, training delivery and risk monitoring in following areas:
  • Corruption, third party due diligence and conflicts of interest
  • Data protection
  • Trade compliance (sanctions, export controls)
  • Competition law and general regulatory advice
  • Public procurement law
  • Identify and respond to legal and regulatory changes and developments.

Employment law advice in support of the HR function
:


  • Advice on employment law and related risks within the European countries.
  • Oversee labour law case management and provide guidance on complex employment claims.
  • Manage external employment counsel engagements as cost effectively as possible.

  • You have a Master's degree in law and have at least 5 years of legal experience in an international environment.
  • You have a proven track record of handling a varied and challenging caseload. Experience of handling large, complex commercial transactions is essential, together with experience of advising on procurement deals. Expertise in public sector contracting and government tendering is strongly preferred.
  • We also need your analytical and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain credibility and effective working relationships, including at senior levels.

Key requirements for the job:

  • Strong background in Commercial, Compliance, Corporate and HR laws.
  • Fluent in English and French is mandatory. Fluency in Dutch and/or German is desirable.
  • Client service skills and responsiveness.
  • Team player and at the same time ability to work autonomously.
  • Inclusive, approachable, consultative and enabling nature.
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and thrive in a fastpaced environment.
