We are looking for rare talent motivated to make a difference for patients living with serious diseases.

Are you interested in helping bring innovation to market? We are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of
Early indication & New Program Global Medical Indication Lead, Rare Disease.

This person
will be a key member of the global team that brings our products to market and will have the opportunity to make a broad impact across a growing Rare Disease Organization (RDO) and can be based either from Europe, preferred HQ in Brussels, Belgium; or from the East coast US, preferred Boston or Atlanta.


This role will be responsible for the development of a Medical Affairs strategy supporting all stages from early development till product launch as well as for evaluating potential new indications to expand our rare disease platform.

In depth Medical Affairs experience and experience in rare neurological diseases, ability to engage with external environment, employee leadership, analytical and strategic thinking, and a creative can-do approach are a must.

This role will report to the
Head of Global Rare Medical and Evidence Generation while working in a cross-functional, matrix environment.


You like to work in an environment where you can:

  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team to impact and build a better world for people with rare diseases
  • Be a key point person and trusted medical partner for commercial and development at the Global Rare Product Core Team for Early Indications
  • Identify Centers of Excellence and develop global expert networks, build partnerships, and collaborate with patient organizations and private companies in the Rare Disease space
  • Demonstrate being an independent thinker who can manage ambiguity and devise solutions when no other obvious or clear path exists

As Global medical Indication Lead you will contribute by:

  • Developing and executing the multi-year global medical strategy for the specified Products/Disease Areas to support successful product development and commercialization
  • Providing therapeutic area expertise as Global Medical representative at the Global Rare Product Core Team for Early Indications and evaluating new indications to expand the Rare Disease platform
  • Leading a medical sub team to develop and execute a Medical Affairs strategy to support our rare diseases platform
  • Being an active contributor of the indication's Benefit Risk Safety Team
  • Identifying data gaps and define strategies and tactics to address these gaps as part of Integrated Strategic Evidence Generation plan
  • Establishing strategic worldwide partnerships with centers of excellence (CoE) and thought leaders based on patient focus, integrity, and trust

education, skills and
experience:


Mandatory:


  • A medical degree (M.D.) or Ph.
D.

  • Experience in Rare disease space
  • 7+ years of experience in international or global roles in Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of the overall drug development process as well as of health economy and access considerations
  • 3+ years of experience in working in a global crossfunctional environment or global product team

Preferred:


  • Background in neurological diseases (autoimmune or other chronic diseases of the central or peripheral nervous system)
  • Experience in leading a team of direct and indirect reports
  • Experience in fieldbased roles
  • Experience in clinical development

Skills Required:


  • Ability to maintain extensive knowledge of the relevant therapeutic areas, patient journeys, clinical practice, research, market access environment, and competitive landscape
  • Ability to influence (directly & indirectly) and foster strong partnerships
  • Ability to present complex and technical concepts to multiple stakeholder audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required travel:
up to ~30%
