***: HIAS seeks an EU Partnerships & Institutional Development Officer to support the Institutional Development team to increase funding and diversify revenue streams in Brussels, Belgium. The EU Partnerships & Institutional Development Officer will help produce high quality concept notes, proposals and reports for European institutional donors, building on HIAS' comparative global and local programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • EXTERNAL RESPONSIBILITIES_
  • Supports the development of highquality proposals, concept notes and other materials for institutional funders, working closely with programs and finance teams on project design, ensuring clarity, consistency and a compelling case for funding, and adhering to donor/HIAS guidelines and policies.
  • Synthesizes HIAS' programs and interventions into clear, compelling presentations, proposals and reports for current and new donors.
  • Conducts outreach to and participates in meetings with new and potential European donors, especially foundations and corporations, to help cultivate strong relationships and identify new funding opportunities.
  • Conducts research and maintains ongoing familiarity of specific funding and partnership opportunities with donors and corporations that align with HIAS' global priorities and signature approaches: legal aid, communitybased mental health and psychosocial support services, economic inclusion and prevention/response to genderbased violence.
  • Identifies opportunities for and supports the development of strategic communications (e.g., blogposts, social media, articles, webinars, etc.) to increase the profile and visibility of HIAS' programs and partnerships.
  • INTERNAL RESPONSIBILITIES_
  • Collaborates closely with development, programs and finance teams to develop proposals and budgets for funding opportunities; this includes clear internal communication on proposal and reporting deadlines, guidelines and policies to programs and finance staff.
  • Supports the development of clear and strongly written proposals, working with U.S. and international programs staff to ensure quality and winning submissions.
  • Conducts research to identify new funding and partnership opportunities, and develops engagement strategies for HIAS nationally and select partners in the affiliate network.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive outreach, solicitation and collaboration strategies for new donors and partners.
  • Conducts research to help cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations and other major funding prospects to broaden HIAS' networks and match donor interests with HIAS' program areas.
  • Updates HIAS' internal grants databases and HIAS Europe's' tracking systems to ensure internal coordination and the timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Ensures quality information management related to grants by overseeing the regular maintenance of grant files, reporting calendars and updating HIAS' internal records.
  • Monitors donor and philanthropic trends across the EU, as well as relevant grantmaking rules and regulations for changes and developments.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:


  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 35 years of experience in grant writing, nonprofit or NGO experience, with an interest in growing in the institutional development field.
  • Written and spoken English and French fluency preferred.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills; strong verbal communication, presentation and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Ability to work independently with remote management, highly selfmotivated and must demonstrate a collaborative work style.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment; ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Previous professional or volunteer work in refugee assistance preferred.
  • Travel, to include travel in insecure operating environments, may be required.
