Your Profile:

  • Master or PhD student in the field of electrical engineering, power electronics, electromechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • You have a European EEA citizenship (not requiring a visum to work in Belgium)
  • You must be a student for the entire duration of the internship
  • Open minded and keen to work proactively in a multicultural business environment
  • Highly motivated for
    mobility,
    cars and
    electrification of
    mobility:
  • Fluent in English (reading; writing; speaking)
  • Able to
    summarize and
    explain complex technical information in a simple, clear and visual way
  • Experience with simulation tools such
    Ansys, SPICE, Simscape, PLECS or similar
  • Experience with visualization tool such
    PowerBi or similar

Your team and your responsibilities:

Division information:


As part of TME R&D organization, the Powertrain Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME production plants, and for planning and research of new European technologies.

Latest focus points include electrification, big data and connectivity.


Your project:

With increasing electrification in the automotive industry, power converters play a key role in future powertrains.

Your project is about research and modeling of power converters applied to Plug-In Hybrids (PHEV) or Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and will include the following activities:


  • Research and implement methods to discover power converter topologies for example through optimal control approach and topology generation methods (circuit generation etc.)
  • Stateofart research and prestudy of different methods and Algorithms of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence that can be used to optimize the control of different topologies
The internship can be part of a master thesis.
