Job brief:
The Risk Officer is responsible for overseeing the institution's risk management operations, including identifying all potential risks, assessing their impact, and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks.
This role requires a proactive approach to enterprise risk management, ensuring that the financial institution operates within regulatory compliance and maintains its financial stability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures to identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, legal, and compliance risks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to evaluate the institution's compliance with laws, regulations, and internal risk policies.
- Collaborate with different departments to establish risk management protocols and ensure they are integrated into the organizational processes.
- Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs) to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Stay updated with new regulations and industry best practices to ensure the institution's risk management policies remain current and effective.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on risk management principles and practices, and on risk awareness and mitigation strategies
- Facilitate risk management meetings and workshops to discuss and address riskrelated issues.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on risk exposure, risk management activities, and recommendations for improving the institution's risk profile
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats to the financial stability of the institution.
- Prepare and present risk analysis reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- A Master's degree or professional certifications is highly desirable (GARP/PRMIA)
- Minimum of [3] years of experience in risk management within a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and banking operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements relevant to the financial industry.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management, methodology and tools.
- Knowledge and experience of internal and external audits.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate risk findings to nonspecialist stakeholders.
- Proactive and able to independently manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Leadership skills with the ability to drive risk management practices across the organization.
