Choose for a technical career at imec. No technical degree? No worries, everyone who has a technical itch, can apply.
It's time to scratch that technical itchCan you imagine that you're the one who ensures that a hightech environment runs smoothly? That you're the first person they call when there's a problem with a millioneuro machine? A machine that makes the very first prototype of an electronic chip that will be in everyone's future smartphone, selfdriving car or brain implant?

If that sounds like a dream come true, we have amazing news for you. Imec is a looking for first-line support assistants & process assistants. And one of them could be you.

"But I don't have a technical degree. I don't even have any technical experience"

That's fine. Your technical itch is all we need.

We'll teach you how to scratch it, in a dual learning program:

In the classroom, we'll give you a basic education in chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanics and processing techniques.
In our cleanrooms, you'll be getting your onthejob training from day one.

The program takes six to eight months. And you'll have a permanent contract from the very first day.

What you will do

Your responsibility? To support operational, technical, process and hardware issues with the processes and machines in our cleanrooms. Those are not just any machines by the way, they're the best in the world. And you're the one who keeps them up and running.

That means you and your colleagues enable our researchers to make prototypes of the technologies that will improve the lives of millions.

As a team, you monitor the quality of the production steps and make sure that the targets for safety, quality, speed and volume are met.

Here's a detailed list of your future duties:

You're the first point of contact for the troubleshooting, maintenance and follow-up of the processes.
You search and find solutions for hardware problems or processrelated issues. Or you perform the first troubleshooting. Together with our engineers, you analyze how to avoid these problems and try to find a sustainable solution.
You develop and optimize our OCAP (Out of Control Action Plan) and the 'firstaid' procedures for hardware or processes when necessary.
You capture recurring problems and find structural solutions. Or you escalate complex problems with clear problem descriptions to the engineers
You come up with ideas to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of the devices you operate.
You organize trainings for your fellow operators and test their qualifications
