Who we are supporting


The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners.

The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO's communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and

Control Systems:
The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.

  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.


Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO's communication and information technology capabilities.


The program

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO's principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider.

It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.


In order to provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance engaged workforce.

The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorises:
NATO International Civilians (NIC)s, Military (Mil) and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)s.

The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.


Role Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level incident support for static and deployable VTC infrastructure through ITSM ticketing system
  • Work on Change management and work order requests
  • Be prepared to do oncall support during out of business hours on
- a rotational basis

  • Ensure that routine maintenance is performed on VTC elements
  • Coordinates and performs VTC infrastructures configuration, numbering plans and maintenance activities for all NATO exercises and missions
  • Investigate and propose longterm solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems.
  • Travel may be required
  • Any other duties required

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Thorough understanding of OSI 7 layer model.
  • Very good TCP/UDP IP Troubleshooting experience
  • Hand on experience in troubleshooting Layer 2/3 switching and routing.
  • Experience of IP telephony & video troubleshooting.
  • Must have network support experience, such as: LAN, WAN, TCP/IP. Cisco, Routers, Switches, DHCP, network fault finding etc. 3rd line support level including, deployment, administration and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge on Microsoft technologies (incl. AD, Windows Server, DNS etc.).
  • Have the ability to tackle complex problems and incidents.
  • Experience in ITIL ICT service delivery on critical infrastructure.
  • Experience of ITIL best practice framework.
  • Tracking SLA expiry times and resolving incidents within SLA deadlines.
  • Good knowledge about PKI
  • Good knowledge of VMWare virtualized infrastructure environments including vSphere, vCenter and vMotion software.
  • Very good English (oral and written)
  • Experience in documentation of solutions, maintaining user / administration guides and stepbystep instructions.
  • Practical experience in the use of modern concepts and accepted industry standards for configuration management, quality assurance and testing
  • Demonstrable ability to work on own and guide others when needed.
  • Excellent communications skills, organisational skills and independent and autonomous working.

Desirable
Skills and Experience

  • Basic knowledge on Poly and/or Cisco video infrastructure
  • Familiar with a multinational work environment
  • Good knowledge on common monitoring solutions, e.g. nGeniusOne, CA Spectrum

Expected practical expertise

  • Worked in a network operation center or service desk function with customers and user contact
  • Worked in network environment areas with Video and Voice infrastructure

Qualifications

  • CCNP Enterprise (aka Cisco CCNP Routing / Switching)

Desirable qualifications

  • Cisco CCNP Datacentre
  • Cisco CCNP Design
  • ITIL v3 or V4
  • VMware: Hyperconverged Infrastructure
