- The kitchen assistant gathers ingredients for restaurant dishes, prepares components in advance such as peeling vegetables, slicing, reducing sauces, or garnishing tart crusts.
- They also prepare simple dishes (appetizers, soups, vegetables, desserts), monitor cooking, reheat dishes, slice cold meats and charcuterie, and plate and transfer dishes to the serving staff.
- The kitchen assistant always works as part of a team, adheres to strict hygiene rules, requires patience, physical endurance, and psychological resilience, and thrives in a highly disciplined brigade system.
