For our client, a global leader in the Railway industry, Harvey Nash is looking for a Purchasing Officer to join a vibrant team.

This role will be on a one-year contract position that will become permanent.

What you'll do

  • Reviews and processes purchase orders
  • Maintains purchase records
  • Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers
  • Communicate accordingly with Technical Project Managers.
  • Selects prospective vendors and negotiates contracts.
  • Evaluates vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
  • Schedules deliveries and ensures timely fulfilment of orders.
  • Researches and evaluates vendors to compare pricing and services.
  • Coordinates with fellow managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
  • Ensures quality of procured items and addresses problems when they arise.
  • Keeps up with trends in procurement.
  • Stays current with purchasing technology trends and oversees purchase and implementation, as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with SLAs
Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent by experience
  • 5+ years' experience as a purchasing officer/ agent.
  • Experience using procurement software and databases.
  • Experience in the Railway industry is a strong asset.
  • Fluency in Dutch AND French. English/ German would be an asset
