AMIHAN A DE SOSA

I'm Amihan de Sosa, 27 years old from the Philippines and now living in Brussels, Belgium. I have a degree of Master of Fine Arts and a Professional Teaching Certificate from Philippines. I'm also a practicing visual artist and had art exhibits in the Philippines, the UK, Germany, and Belgium. The common themes of my artworks revolve around the culture and the arts of indigenous peoples in the Philippines, gender issues, and socio-political issues in contemporary society. Currently, I'm enrolled in a French language course to widen my language skills while doing art projects for Philippine Embassy and non-government organizations in Belgium.

I started teaching arts in 2015 in several art workshops for children. From 2016 to 2019, I taught various art subjects to Senior High School students at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. I stopped teaching from 2019 to 2020 to finish my research for my Master's thesis. Between 2019 and 2021, I wrote art textbooks for high school students. I started teaching arts again in 2021 to 2022 for a state-funded art school in the Philippines.

I took both my bachelor's degree and master's degree in Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. I also studied 18 units of professional teaching at the University of the Philippines. The National Commission for Culture in the Arts in the Philippines granted me a scholarship for a Master's degree in Cultural education that I, unfortunately, couldn't finish since I moved to Belgium. Currently, I'm taking a French language course at the EPFC in Brussels.
