Dear Sir/Madam,                                                                             

I hereby submit this letter with great enthusiasm and interest to support my application for becoming member of your team and work as a Physical Education Teacher at your school.

Since I was a child, I have always had an undeniable passion for the field of the physical activity and therefore, I devoted myself academically and professionally to this domain. I obtained my bachelor’s degree at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences in Greece, where I enriched my knowledge with several courses, linked to the sports pedagogy and science. After completing my bachelor studies, I decided to relocate to Brussels. Living abroad and moving to a new country was the most significant challenge of my life, but also, it was a necessary step for fulfilling my life’s dream to work and live in a multicultural environment. 

Through all these years, I have worked as a coach for basketball and football teams in different educational and sports institutions. In parallel with my coaching experience, I completed my master studies in the domain of the Educational Sciences and the Anthropology and Sociology of Physical Education and Sports. In the meantime, I had also participated in volunteer programs in Spain and Greece, while I have attended in-service trainings of summer schools, related with educational themes, in Estonia and Greece. The most remarkable opportunity was my work experience at the European School III of Brussels, as a Physical Education Teacher. During this period, I had the chance to teach sports in students of several ages from the secondary level of education in a multicultural environment. Consequently, I learned the importance of designing and developing an active, inclusive, and creative learning environment, by establishing a fruitful and multilingual communication with my students and an excellent collaboration with my colleagues. In addition, I have been participating in many school projects like the TEDx Youth, the annual school event that is “Springfest”, and the Well-being Project for the school community. Moreover, I have represented my school in several sport events and competitions, like the Cross Race, the Eurosport championship, an inter-European Schools sports competition, where we won the first place in basketball and football among 17 European Schools, the mini-Eurosport. As a result of my efforts, I became the coordinator of the Physical Education Department, where I worked closely with the school Direction for the development of projects, like an indoor or outdoor fitness area, I assisted in the preparations for in-service training seminars, while I was also responsible for making the timetables concerning the distribution of lessons and group composition. 

Through the investment in my personal, academic and professional development over the last 10 years in Brussels, I have comprehended the importance of physical activity in people’s life and its great impact, by becoming a motivated and hardworking Physical Education Teacher. By dedicating time on deepening my competences and by understanding the science around sports, the athletic culture has become an integral part of my lifestyle. My vision is to stay committed in my mission of exploring thoroughly the field of physical exercise and advocate for the meaningful values of the lifelong physical activity to the new generations.

Soy licenciado en el Departamento de Educación Física y Ciencias del Deporte de la Universidad Aristóteles de Salónica, y tengo dos títulos de posgrado.  Mi primer máster, en la anglófona Universidad Libre de Bruselas, se centró en Ciencias de la Educación, escribiendo mi tesis sobre la enseñanza AICLE en educación física. En mi segundo máster, estudié en el campo de la antropología y la sociología del deporte en la Universidad Abierta Helénica. Por consiguiente, tengo una rica formación académica en los principios de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje.

Durante los últimos siete años, he tenido el privilegio de trabajar como profesora de Educación Física en la Escuela Europea III de Bruselas, desarrollando mi identidad profesional en un entorno de aprendizaje intercultural y de calidad. Gracias a esta función, he adquirido experiencia en el desarrollo y la aplicación de planes de enseñanza innovadores adaptados a las diferentes necesidades y capacidades de los alumnos. Utilizando una variedad de estrategias de enseñanza, mi principal motivación ha sido siempre involucrar activamente a los estudiantes con el fin de promover los valores del espíritu de equipo y el desarrollo de sus habilidades motoras, emocionales y sociales en el contexto de las clases de educación física. Además, el conocimiento y uso obligatorio de cuatro lenguas extranjeras (inglés, francés, español y griego) durante la impartición de la asignatura de educación física fue una oportunidad para cultivar aún más mis habilidades comunicativas, lo que me ayudó a tener una comunicación más significativa con los alumnos, fomentando el entendimiento cultural y la integración en el aula. También añadiría la experiencia de organizar y dirigir eventos deportivos, dentro de la escuela y durante todos los años de mi estancia allí.
 

Además de mi papel como profesor, he tenido la oportunidad, y por encargo del propio Director, de asumir también el papel de Coordinador del Departamento de Educación Física en el mismo colegio. Mis responsabilidades se centraban en el desarrollo y la aplicación del plan de estudios, la coordinación y armonización de los programas de aprendizaje de todas las clases en las ocho secciones lingüísticas diferentes de la escuela, y la gestión eficaz de los recursos escolares. Además, me encargué de organizar reuniones profesionales entre compañeros gimnastas de distintos países de la Unión Europea para resolver diversas cuestiones, al tiempo que adquiría experiencia en la organización de eventos deportivos intercolegiales y extraescolares a escala paneuropea.
