Over Josie Ryan:
Originally from Ireland, I have had the privilege of growing up overseas in the Middle East and Africa, which has deeply shaped my perspective and passion for wildlife conservation. My journey into wildlife veterinary care began in Rwanda and South Africa, where I developed a profound love for animal conservation.
Over the years, my career evolved from wildlife conservation to private veterinary practice. I completed my education while working in Belgium, where I obtained a specialisation in veterinary nursing with a focus on surgical practice. With over 6 years of experience in the field, I have dedicated my career to advocating for animals and making their well-being my profession in every shape and form.
Outside of work, I channel my passion into art, creating paintings that focus on endangered species. My artwork aims to raise public awareness and encourage education on the importance of protecting and conserving our environment and wildlife.
Ervaring
I have extensive experience in veterinary conservation, having worked in Rwanda and South Africa where I focused on wildlife conservation. My roles included monitoring and tracking poaching activities, treating wildlife in rehabilitation centers, and preparing animals for release back into the wild.
In South Africa, I gained hands-on experience in animal welfare veterinary clinics, where I developed an interest in surgical nursing. I furthered my expertise by working at VETLIFE in Braine L'Alleud, Belgium, where I was responsible for organising surgical procedures and supporting the surgeons. I also served as a surgical and ICU nurse at Animali in Halle, developing my skills in both surgical and critical care settings.
