Marte Dejonghe

I'm 23 years old, from Antwerp region (Belgium). I have a master in Audiology (KU Leuven) and am currently pursuing an advanced master in Artificial Intelligence (KU Leuven). 

I enjoy participating in sports, including activities like running and snowboarding, but my greatest passion lies in playing field hockey. I began playing at the age of four and have continued ever since. Although it has always been a hobby for me, I strongly believe that it has fostered important qualities in me, such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance. Sport has also given me the opportunity to work as a trainer/instructor. During the year, but especially in summer, I like to spend my time giving sports camps in general, with a slight preference towards hockey.

Apart from sports, I also have an interest in creative pursuits. During my free time, I enjoy creating content for our hockey club's social media as well as for our team specifically.

During my Master in Audiology, I did an internship in the Leiden Medical Center as a clinical audiologist and an internship as a technical audiologist in Goed Hoorcentrum (Hasselt). I've also done a couple of student jobs, ranging from working in bars to administrative assistant jobs. 

The master degree in Artificial intelligence provides students with the most recent insights in artificial intelligence and machine learning. I chose to follow the option of speech and language technologies, which applies these theoretical insights onto natural language, exploring the fields of language applications and natural language processing. In addition, we learnt how to program in python and use other tools that might become handy in these fields (such as R studio, tableau…).
