Media Broadcast Coordinator:


The Role
We are looking to expand our Press and Communications team, which sits within the Campaigns and Communications department. We are looking for the addition of a goal-oriented, committed, and proactive Media Broadcast Specialist.

The Broadcasting Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day presentation of the CCDH's values, policies, and campaigns within the broadcast media.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

  • This role combines strategic thinking, creativity, and policy communications with the organizational skills to manage various projects, initiatives, and relationships across key stakeholders and regulatory bodies where CCDH is active.
  • The role will work with the executive team to grow, deliver, and oversee initiatives to create media strategies that fulfill CCDH's strategic vision and execution against the mission statement.
  • You will devise and implement a broadcast media strategy looking at proactive opportunities to get onto daytime TV, news shows, and documentaries.
  • You will ensure CCDH spokespeople are providing commentary on as many relevant topics as possible.
  • You will work closely with our communications teams across the organization
  • The role will work flexibly as part of the Press and Communications team and carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Press and Communications Manager and Head of Campaigns and Communications.
  • The role will advocate for CCDH, facilitate initiatives across relevant sectors and stakeholders, and bring external perspectives back to the team to inform perception and direction.

Key outcomes:

  • Build relationships with key figures in national and local broadcast media
  • Expand CCDH's presence in nonnews television, radio and other media (e.g. daytime TV)
  • Establish spokespeople as experts in the field

Person Specification
Essential

  • An experienced broadcast media professional who can build relationships with key media stakeholders, programs, and channels to increase the audience we reach and the impact of our work.
  • 4+ years of experience in similar roles such as broadcast journalism, media public relations, or similar press communciations roles.
  • Have an indepth understanding of the US national and regional TV market.
  • An understanding of how to devise and implement a media strategy
  • An understanding of the aims and values of CCDH
  • A thorough knowledge of the broadcast media nationally and regionally
  • Substantive broadcasting experience
  • Experience with delivering a media strategy and/or Experience as a Press Officer or journalist.
  • Experience in briefing politicians and journalists with excellent political judgement.
  • Ability to be creative, identify good stories and gain coverage
  • Ability to coordinate a wide range of requests for interviews and to work with a wide range of broadcasters
  • Experience acting as a spokesperson
  • Advocate for CCDH and bring external perspectives back into the organization to inform the direction
  • Cultivate, develop, and maintain relationships with key elected officials, policymakers, and legislators primarily in the U.S, with some global work as well. Excellent relationshipbuilding (and maintaining) skills
  • Proficient in all areas of communication channels e.g., Gmail, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Actively seeks ways to improve processes, productivity, and profitability
  • Holds selfaccountable for highquality, timely, compliant, and costeffective results
  • Takes ownership of team deliverables and is financially responsible with time and resources
  • Good organizational skills, such as maintaining databases
  • Ability to communicate findings, timelines and obstacles with your team clearly
Desirable

  • Knowledge of the current debates on social media reform, online harms, disinformation, discrimination, and online hate policy
  • 3+ years experience in working on public policy, public affairs, or advocacy.
  • Experience in writing content for websites and social media, e.g. blogs
  • Knowledge of the economics of social media platforms
  • Experience working in government, or civil society/NGO sector
  • Experience in using project managemen
