Scope of the function
The main purpose of the Engineering Project Manager electrical and instrumentation (E&I) engineer is to manage E&I projects and oversee all aspects from a project like:

  • Feasibility study
  • Scope and budget
  • Equipment/systems technical/functional descriptions
  • Process diagrams, layouts, detailed design, interfaces
  • Tendering, bid comparison, supplier selection
  • Planning
  • Construction and commissioning support
  • Acceptance and performance tests
  • Budget controlling
  • Claim management
  • FAT/SAT organization + execution
  • Work within several projects simultaneously, in a multicultural environment
During the commissioning, E&I project engineer will be a part of the commissioning team on site.


This position reports hierarchically to the Head of E&I and functionally to the project manager (construction and commissioning managers) and the technology managers.


Missions and responsibilities

  • Deliver functional descriptions together with the Mechanical Technology Engineering Managers for the different processes
  • Develop and define operational concepts.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards and practices, which are already within the department, update guideline documents when needed
  • Deliver and verification of scope specifications / requirements with Technology Engineering Managers in order to lead the design of electrical systems and prevent scope / design changes
  • Keep relationships with outside manufacturers and vendors to facilitate design and stay up to date with new technologies
  • Validate tendering and deliver bid comparisons for several scopes.
  • Validate intermediate and final as build documentation (software, operation manual)
  • Archive engineering and design information, drawings and related reference lists for each scope package.
  • Manage suppliers and their scope from E&I point of view.
  • Supervise the commissioning of scope packages.
  • Support in problem solving of deficiencies.
  • Control of the sensitive equipment, being able to avoid a stop of the line. Act as trouble shooter in case of a line shutdown.
  • Ensure designs meet legal guidelines and safety requirements

Your profile

Qualifications and experience required

  • Engineer or equivalent by experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in E&I systems

Required skills

  • Language: Fluent in English. Any other language is a plus.
  • Autonomous, organized, proactive.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team with engineering and Project managers; work within deadlines and adjust external resources as required.
  • Having the ability to create and maintain a positive relationship
  • Being organized in archiving documents (supported by different software tools)
  • To be assertive and have selfconfidence in presenting and supporting conclusions, having communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to multitask and prioritize work (different projects and technologies)
  • Ability to be a creative thinker; willingness to try new approaches, explore new markets (such as Asia).

Solid knowledge of

  • Industrial standards
  • Preparation, basic/detail engineering, construction, documentation/ as built, aftercare.
  • License management, incl. operational organization of licenses for automationsystems.
  • Philosophy of hardware configuration of process control.
Instrumentation (such as instrument index-list, I/O-list, cable dimensioning and tray-layout

  • Translation into and realization of safety (automation) system. (S7-F, Distributed Safety, SICK, Pilz)

Communication

  • Clearly explain design ideas
  • Comfortable writing technical reports
  • Prepare conclusions and analysis reports
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications (sound engineering judgement)
  • Recommend modifications for design improvements and simplification
  • Effectively present proposals, status reports, and final project reports to project group
  • Assemble project deliverables
  • Assist with field and manufacturing problems
