About the role:


National Grid Ventures (NGV) have an exciting opportunity for a Senior EU Regulatory Policy Lead to join us working in our Brussels office.


In Europe, we're a leading developer of electricity interconnectors, which enable the efficient trade of renewable energy between the UK and its neighbours.

We currently have six electricity interconnectors in operation, and a pipeline of potential projects in the North Sea at an early stage of development.

Our growing portfolio will play an increasingly important role in helping the EU and UK achieve challenging net zero emissions targets not least through projects, policy development and thought leadership to help deliver massive rollout of offshore wind in the North Sea.

National Grid Ventures (NGV) is the competitive division of National Grid.

Separate from National Grid's core regulated activities, we develop, operate and invest in energy projects, technologies and partnerships to accelerate the development of a clean energy future for consumers across Europe and the US.


What you'll be doing:


  • Work with the NGV team and National Grid Corporate Affairs on influencing and advising senior internal and external stakeholders in relation to regulatory policy issues.
  • Support the Business Development team in creation and delivery of its future revenue strategy and risk management plans.
  • Horizonscanning to understand and interpret changing market and policy landscape and contributing to the development of NGV positions on key EU policy matters.
  • Creating senior briefing materials on the business impacts of policy changes and the risks to our business strategy.
  • Translating policy and market changes into possible opportunities and revenue streams.
  • Develop an extensive network of key EU energy stakeholders and proactively engage with EU policy makers to support NGV's strategic objectives, attending industry fora on behalf of NGV Interconnectors.
  • Work actively to create alliances with other TSOs, industry associations, NGOs and relevant stakeholders.

About you:


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Proven experience and knowledge of GB and EU energy policy matters of relevance to the development of an European offshore grid.
  • Experience of working in an EU facing multistakeholder environment to successfully influence policy or regulatory developments.
  • Demonstrable interest in complex energy matters and strong appreciation of business fundamentals and business strategy and development.
  • Ability to successfully communicate complex policy solutions in a clear and concise manner to multiple audiences.
  • Strong ability to plan, execute, measure, review and report to the business.
  • Highly organised and strong attention to detail.

What you'll get:


You'll receive a competitive salary between €60,000 - €75,000 - dependent on capability and experience, 28 days holiday per year, a performance-based bonus of up to 10%, Meal vouchers.
