Position at the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium


The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) is hiring a scientist in the context of a project financed by BELSPO for a period of
2 years**.

The project title is "Forest cold and urban heat island effects on climate adaptation of biodiversity at different spatial and temporal scales FOURCAST" and is coordinated by Meise Botanic Garden.

The aim of the project is to investigate the impact of the historical climate change on biodiversity in Belgium.


Job Objective

Required competences

  • A Master degree in mathematics, physics, geoscience or engineering. If you obtained your degree outside the Benelux, you must also have an equivalence recognition from a foreign diploma or certificate in Flanders (NARIC) or Wallonia (CFWB)
  • Experience with analysing climate data (e.g. observations, reanalysis data, model data,...) is an advantage
  • Assets include a strong background in mathematics, experience with linux systems, and knowledge of climatology and urban climate
  • An ability to work within a team and to easily communicate research at the international level
