Introduction
ArcelorMittal Belgium is a leading provider of flat steel products, with production facilities in Gent, Liège, Genk, and Geel. We serve various industries, including automotive, energy, household appliances, food packaging, construction, and agriculture.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve and streamline our operations, we've launched the Unify Program, a large-scale transformation initiative aimed at unifying logistics and production line follow-up solutions across our Belgium plants.

As part of this program, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our AM Liège development team.

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of projects and tasks where you can expect to take part in all aspects of industrial software engineering.

This includes development, analysis, testing, project management and support to business teams.

What does the job entail?

Deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software to support our steel logistics processes
Assisting business users in defining the evolution of our software and resolving bugs and issues
Translating business functionalities into IT systems
Communicating with IT and business teams from Liège and Ghent
Constantly seeking out improvements
Dealing with the following technology stack: C#,.NET, SQL, Log4net, DevOps, TFS, CD/CI, unit and integration testing.
Work regime: Onsite (Jemeppe-SurMeuse/Kessales) with the possibility of working from home (maximum of 2 days per week).

Your first mission will be to roll out an in-house crane automation solution in one of our Liège coils stockyard.

You will learn the developed framework and drive configuration and testing before rolling it out.

You will be dealing with image recognition problems, calibration of lidar scanners and other sensors, and work in close collaboration with engineers in charge of the PLCs, business people in charge of the warehouse (including crane drivers), and many colleagues from the industrial IT and automation department located in both Liège and Ghent.

- master's degree in engineering, applied sciences or IT

The ability to challenge customer ideas and find consensus
Proficiency in the C# language
Fluency in French and English, with knowledge of Dutch being a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate quickly with our existing industrial IT team
You have a commitment to open and respectful communication with all stakeholders
