    The Data Integration Center (DIZ) is looking for the nextpossible date for a

    Data Engineer (m/f/d)

    As a central institution, the DataIntegration Center (DIZ) represents a basic component fordata-driven medicine at the University Medical Center Freiburg(UKF) and is part of the nationwide Medical Informatics Initiative(MII) and the Network University Medicine (NUM).
    Theaim is to process patient care data in a standardized manner, whilemaintaining data protection, and to make it available for qualityassurance tasks, process optimization and, in particular, forscientific questions. In this way, the DIZ makes a significantcontribution to improving patient care and scientific progress.

    We are looking for a Data Engineer (m/f/d) foran exciting field of activity in which you will have theopportunity to contribute to the establishment and furtherdevelopment of the technical core components of the DIZ and helpshape them.     Aspart of a committed and collegial team, you will use your skillsfor the following tasks in particular:

    • Development and optimization of extensive ETL pipelinesthat merge structured data from various clinical source datasystems in our data warehouse (Apache Hop, Kafka Java Streams,scripting)
    • Collaboration on thearchitecture, design and development of data warehouse and businessintelligence solutions (based on the Clickhouse columnstore withthe aim of close-to-eventtime data integration of continuous datastreams)
    • Standardization of data fromprimary systems through to profiling of data in FHIR resources
    • Implementation of technical tests andmeasures to increase data quality
    • Provisionand operation of various data storage and processing systems Provision of data and interfaces for productive (BI)applications and ensuring data consistency and up-to-dateness
    • Supporting data analysts in theanalysis of complex data

    Youbring with you:

    • A degree incomputer science or a related discipline
    • sound knowledge of the fundamental issues of computer science, suchas algorithms and data structures
    • areliable, structured and goal-oriented way of working
    • Ability to abstract data and data flows, especially formodeling central database schemas and integrating company-wide datafrom various sources (databases, file systems, data streams)ideally experience in the productive operation of large DBMS anddata-driven development
    • Ideally experiencewith design / programming using object-oriented and proceduralprogramming languages as well as sound knowledge of relational and,if applicable, non-relational and column-oriented databases
    • Very good written and spoken communicationskills
    • Prior knowledge of clinicalinformation processing (e.g. HIS, HL7, FHIR), clinical workflowsand interoperability standards in healthcare (e.g. LOINC,SNOMED-CT) would round off your profile
