Our client is a fintech that offers start-ups and established businesses a wide range of payment services, such as transaction processing, BIN sponsorship, e-money issuance and digital wallet provision, as well as full programme management and value-added services such as PSD2 and AML compliance expertise.

The company is trusted to manage ground-breaking payment programmes such as prepaid/debit cards, travel money cards, gift cards, corporate cards, insurance cards, rewards cards, loyalty cards, staff cards (like Ticket Restaurant, Eco Cheque), promotional cards, corporate expense.

The company's programmes operate across multiple media and form factors, including physical, virtual and Apple Pay/Google Pay. The company has over 200 client programmes across 26 countries.


As part of the organisational principles and responsibilities of the company, and with the aim of better controlling compliance risks and ensuring honesty, integrity, respect for high ethical values in the conduct of business and compliance with both the spirit and the letter of the regulations in force with regard to the institution's activities, the Compliance team must provide the organisation with assurance about the degree of control over its operations from a compliance point of view, offer advice on how to reduce compliance risks, improve the way the organisation operates and help to create an honest approach to doing business.

The compliance primary focus is to protect the business by ensuring an excellent level of compliance across numerous regulatory domains.

As an Electronic Money Institution licenced in Belgium and a well-known issuing member, some specific payment and financial regulations are particularly important to the company.

The Compliance Officer reports to the Compliance Manager. The role requires a good business understanding of the products and their subsequent impact on compliance.

It is also important to have a keen interest in evolving industry and technical developments in the innovative competitive landscape driven by PSD2.

The role will be to give support to the Compliance team in the following tasks:

  • Verify compliance with rules relating to the company's activities Ensuring that the company complies with the regulatory rules of integrity and conduct applicable to it.
  • Integrate the principles of compliance into the company's culture and establish guidelines for compliance with regulations.
  • Monitoring new legislation and regulations and their interpretation in the area of compliance. Keep informed of latest regulatory evolutions in the countries where the company operate.
  • Advising on the development of compliance policies and its ongoing updating, as well as measures to control compliance risks.
  • Participating in deliberations on change request for products, services and market, focusing on the identification, documentation and assessment of the applicable compliance risks.
  • Evaluating the company's compliance procedures, controls and directives, identifying any shortcomings and proposing changes where necessary.
  • Develop quality improvement initiatives and initiate organisational changes to ensure compliance with internal rules and business expectations in terms of good governance.
  • Participating in the drawing up the compliance action plan describing in sufficient detail the nature and frequency of the assignments that the compliance function will carry out over a specified period. The plan is based on a methodical risk analysis, the principles of which are set out in writing and assessed at regular intervals.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Compliance MIS and KPI.
  • Monitor the compliance risk levels, develop, deploy and operate controls necessary for the effective management of risk mitigation measures.
  • Regularly maintain the company's Compliance Risk Register, clearly identify each risk together with its rating.
  • Assist in producing and filing all regulatory compliance reports.
  • Embed a compliance culture in the company and its agents day to day activities.

Requirements:


  • As much as possible of:
  • Demonstrable Compliance expertise and experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of payment and/or financial industry and regulations are an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, assertiveness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information.
  • Ability to work at pace with accuracy when under pressure.
  • Languages: fluency in either French or Dutch, with a good (working) knowledge of English.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Payments Schemes and Technology awareness and interest.
  • Results orientated.
