    Our Consumer and Marketing Insights (CMI) Department enables our clients to make data driven decisions to help them grow. And how do we do that? By listening to their needs, establishing research strategies, and providing them with relevant insights and recommendations, while keeping the time investment for our clients at a low level by supporting them in all their decision making.

    In a nutshell, we are looking for a person that is passionate about helping our clients via in-depth research. You will be responsible for developing existing client accounts, by renewing contracts or developing the types of studies conducted with these clients, as well as developing new business with prospects. You will be the preferred contact for clients in a wide range of industries, going from finance to entertainment, media, travel, hospitality, ....You have a thorough understanding of research and are able to carefully listen to clients to translate their needs into an effective research proposal that convinces them of the added value GfK can bring. In short, you are a sales specialist with an appetite for research

    What does your typical day look like?

  • First things first: a coffee or tea at our cozy office in Leuven, or at home.
  • You meet with a client to understand new challenges and opportunities they are facing.
  • As the day evolves, you develop a commercial research proposal that will help answer the client's questions and shows exactly what GfK brings to the table.
  • After lunch, you follow up on incoming requests for research from both new & existing clients in the variety of sectors that are your responsibility (entertainment, travel & hospitality, finance, ...).
  • Together with the CMI Director, you think about new possible client pools that could benefit from the insights the CMI team provides, how to reach them and how to convince them to start a partnership.
  • In between, you work on action plans for your portfolio of accounts, and create close relationships with the experts that will be responsible for the research projects.
  • Finally, you have a meeting with a client to present a proposal, in which you clearly explain the research methodology and what's in it for them.
  • You finish the day feeling proud that your drive and client-centricity has made a difference and that you have created customer intimacy by perfectly mastering their key issues and becoming their main point of contact
  • Now that we've introduced you to the position as Account Manager, what skills, qualifications and experience should you have?

  • Bachelor's, Master's degree, or higher education
  • Around 3 years of experience in sales / business development / account management
  • Knowledge and use of (market) research
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Commercial and results-oriented focus
  • Fluent in English, big plus if you are also fluent in Dutch or French
  • Affinity with and thorough understanding of (quantitative) research
  • Fondness to work towards (financial) targets and KPIs
  • Strong listening capabilities and ability to have in-depth conversations to convert an opportunity into a deal
  • Cold calling and searching for or creating new leads
