Function:
As Medior Accountant you are to support the organisation in financial, accounting and fiscal management, in close cooperation with the Chief Accountant.
You will also support the Office Manager and prepare payments, validate transactions, and update financial information in the different tools and in CRM.
Tasks and responsibilities (in collaboration with the Chief Accountant):
- Support the Accounting Manager in:
- closing the annual accounts and Ebmc,
- preparing the audit files and assisting the auditors during their mandate,
- participating in and fulfilling monthly reporting and checks linked to regular closings,
- digitalising the accounting workflows,
- preparing the payments linked to the activities and the portfolio,
- monthly or quarterly VAT return,
- fiscal tax return,
- coordination with local offices,
- managing SDG's accounting from A to Z,
- etc.
- Enter and verify data in BIO's Management Information System.
- Prepare payment files and enter the operations in the banking system.
- Prepare the payment batches in the accounting software and in the banking system.
- Support the assistant accountants in daytoday management: support in coding AP/AR and banks, answer all technical questions relating to the use of accounts, VAT, or other analytical questions.
- Solve the accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Make the SDG Frontier Fund file your own and manage it from A to Z: coding, portfolio preparation, etc.
- In case the Accounting Manager is absent, assume responsibilities linked to external relations regarding BIO's financial management: DGD administration, the Cabinet of the Ministry for Development Cooperation, external auditors, the Court of Audit, the financial inspector, etc. and regarding financial reports to DGD, the OECD, the national bank.
Profile:
Profile:
- Accounting degree.
- At least 5 years' relevant experience. Previous experience in an investment company in emerging markets is an asset. Previous professional experience with governmental organisations is also an asset.
- Perfect knowledge of French or Dutch, professional knowledge of English.
- Good knowledge of audit practices and principles.
- Complete mastery of applicable laws, codes and regulations.
- Decent analytical skills, good communication skills (spoken and written).
- Accurate, rigorous, respecting agreed deadlines.
- Assertive and dynamic personality.
