Working for the Renewable and Urban Business Line


The Renewables & Urban Business Line of Laborelec provides business-focused research and expertise services to energy operators worldwide in the fields of solar, wind, hybrid and flexible assets, future home and collectivities, e-Mobility, lighting and energy storage.


The Wind Lab is one of the teams within the Renewables and Urban business line of Laborelec, that is contributing to the energy transition.

The Wind Lab has a dual role within Laborelec:


  • The Wind Lab defines the Research Roadmap for wind technology on behalf of ENGIE and carries out this Research Roadmap. Innovative solutions are developed in order to accelerate growth in the wind business within ENGIE.
The Wind Lab acts as a service provider for the different entities with ENGIE and third Parties


Context of the job
As an expert you will participate in both roles. You lead and participate in the execution of wind R&D projects and Operational projects. The type of projects can range from desktop studies, pilot project realization, solution development, measurement campaigns and inspections. Projects are often performed in collaboration with different research or industrial partners. For this you develop and maintain a professional network and a sustainable collaboration with partners.


You take initiatives to interact with these partners to position Laborelec's expertise, aggregate customer needs and package when possible into recurrent service activities and products related to wind energy.


As Wind Expert you:

- lead and participate in the execution of wind R&D projects and Operational projects.
- establish collaborations with competent partners (internal and external ENGIE) to execute these projects.
- contribute technically to the execution of these projects within a project team as well as in individual tasks.
- act as an integrator of different competence domains to contribute to the solution towards the clients.
- effectively communicate project progress, results and references to clients and stakeholders.
- initiate new projects and provide valuable input for R&D roadmaps.
- are part of the Sales Line and Community of Practice within ENGIE Laborelec

Qualifications


You might be our colleague if you:

  • have a Master's degree or a PhD in Engineering or Science. A specialization in Aerodynamics and/or Aeroelasticity is a clear asset.
- have at least 5 years of experience within the wind energy sector and a good knowledge of the technical components, design considerations and performance drivers of wind farms.
- demonstrated experience with wind modelling software, yield estimation and wind farm performance analysis. Experience with load analysis (e.g. OpenFAST, FEM analysis) is a clear asset.
- are fluent with Python and with the analysis of large datasets (SCADA and dedicated measurements).
- have an international mind and you are open to travel for international missions (few times a year).
- have strong communication skills in English. French and Dutch are clear assets. Any other language is a plus.
- have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, able to interact with different levels within your client's organizations.

An experience in the initiation, follow-up and result consolidation of measurement campaigns on wind assets is an advantage.

Having the GWO certificates is a plus.
