    Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are growing in complexity and capability. As a Technical Project Manager, for Kion Automated Systems, you are the single point of contact (SPOC) for the different Operating Units (Dematic, Still, Linde), who are focused on new automated guided vehicle developments. You align these Operating Units to make sure they stay on track in following the designed strategic roadmap. As a Technical Project Manager you will rely heavily on your interpersonal and communication skills: it is of vital importance to create relationships of mutual understanding and trust with and between the Operating Units (each with its own history, focus and sensitivities).

  • Tasks and Qualifications:

    To further strengthen the department, we are looking for you as Technical Project Manager at our Antwerp, Belgium or Holland, MI, USA location.

  • Manage multiple vehicle development projects (ground up solutions based on current technology) with regard to scope, schedule and budget
  • You are also the SPOC for the Belgian AGILE teams who design next generation mobile robotics for warehouse environments
  • You work with technical leads and development project managers to define priorities and mitigate risk
  • Communicate across AGILE teams and other groups (e.g. Procurement, Sales, Service, Production, Product management, Quality, & Controlling) to maintain alignment of development
  • Manage the introduction and ramp-up of new automated vehicles to KION factories across the world
  • You work with Product Management on strategy for planning of future developments
  • You accompany and mentor the introduction of new development systems (iPep, Safe)
  • Build reporting systems for communication to management and the larger organization
  • Communicate with the KION Center of Excellence about product capabilities and expectations
  • Accomplish department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
  • Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering or related field is required, Master's degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in project management
  • Previous managerial experience is preferred
  • Experience in an agile organization
  • Understand the lifecycle of a (technical) product
  • You enjoy bringing a vehicle from a concept to a mass-production line
  • Experience in the field of automation is an obvious asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in an international and intercultural context
  • Willingness to travel (30%)
  • Excellent knowledge of English and good command of Dutch. Knowledge of German, French or other languages is a plus
