Climate Alliance European Secretariat (Brussels Office) is seeking a


Energy poverty project manager
to join its highly motivated and multilingual Brussels team. The position concerns management of a newly started EU grant and contributions to the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub


Climate Alliance is looking for a highly motivated project manager to for the _RENOVERTY proje_ct (LIFE) where Climate Alliance is the network partner also contributing to, policy recommendations, capacity building activities for local and regional authorities on energy renovation with a focus on vulnerable households.


Our new colleague will furthermore become a part of the team coordinating the _Energy Poverty Advisory Hub_ and undertake activities primarily related to capacity building and ensuring energy poverty is becoming a natural part of local climate and energy planning for municipalities in the EU.

It will be a 50/50 split between the two assignments.

You have academic or practical experiences in working with vulnerable segments at a local level.

You are impact oriented with a focus on local actions while still having an interest in the policy developments at EU level on the topic.

You have good knowledge or experiences with local climate and energy planning from a specific or various municipalities.

You are interested in being a part of a small but vibrant office in Brussels committed to drive the energy transition at a high pace in a socially just manner.


Description of desired results

  • Independent lead on all RENOVERTY project deliverables namely:
  • Development of policy and financial recommendations on EE renovations, prepared with selected municipalities;
  • Establishing dialogue with relevant organisations and stakeholders related to rural EE renovation targeting vulnerable households
Main Communication tools related to the RENOVERTY project

  • A significant boost of the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub supporting
  • National and international capacity building events (both online and in person)
  • Network activities within the EU institutions
Content creation for publications and the EPAH website

  • Contribution to strengthening Climate Alliance's energy poverty expertise with
  • Planning and implementation of Climate Alliance activities
  • Ensuring Climate Alliance members benefit from the work carried out in the two above projects
  • Developing new projects in collaboration with colleagues

SELECTION CRITERIA

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

You should have:

Study & experience:


  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience with project management, European Commission funded projects is a strong asset
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience working with energy poverty alleviation, either as part of your academic studies or professional experience
  • Experience working in an international environment, particularly working across different cultures and languages
  • A master degree in relevant field (e.g. energy management, urban planning). Applicants with interdisciplinary study background are encouraged to apply

Technical skills & knowledge:


  • Experience with developing and hosting of capacity building events both physical and online.
  • Knowledge of the EU institutions
  • Experience with contributions to EU funded projects

Personal skills & skills profile:


  • Systemic as well as an outofthebox thinker
  • Dynamic and proactive; quickstarter, able to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Excellent organisational skills, high attention to details and ability to multitask;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Motivated to work with local authorities, networks of cities and NGOs and the European Commission on just transition and climate action

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Knowledge and experience working on energy poverty
  • Experience in working with or in a city or network
  • Any other EU languages are considered as an asset

TERMS

Contract
The contract will be made between the individual and Climate Alliance under the Belgian law.

The corresponding assignment is based on a 2-year full-time contract (with a possibility to be extended / converted into a permanent position)
starting as soon as possible.
