    Academic environment

    The University of Namur, with more than 70 programs, welcomes each year nearly 8,000 students and doctoral students, of 75 different nationalities, in law, computer science, medicine, philosophy and literature, science and social sciences. Of the University's 1,400 employees, more than 900 actively contribute to research within 11 research institutes, 65 laboratories and research centers and 9 technological platforms. Alongside 6 other faculties, the Faculty of Economic, Social Sciences and Management nearly accounts 1,800 students (including 160 in time shift programs) and 250 staff members including 85 academic and 70 scientific members. It offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs in management, management engineering and economics, and undergraduate and postgraduate programs in political sciences and information and communication sciences. The Faculty members carry out cutting-edge research in numerous areas of expertise.

    Job description

    The position involves, in equal parts, teaching and research duties, as well as some service activities. The entire teaching load (in courses related to economics, management, and quantitative methods) is carried out within the bachelor's and master's evening programs. The Department of Economics co-organizes with the Economics School of Louvain (ESL-UCLouvain) the graduate and postgraduate day programs in economics. The evening programs, organized by the Department of Evening Studies in Economics and Management , are attended by adults engaged in professional life. Research (approximately 50% of the work time associated with the position) will be undertaken within in one of the fields of economics at one of the Faculty's research centers within the Development, Finance and Public Policies (DeFiPP) research institute.

    Profile

    Candidates must hold a Master's degree in economics (or equivalent), or plan to obtain it by the end of June 2024 (or by the end of September 2024, with in that case a starting date on October 1st, He/she must have excelled during his/her studies (degree obtained with honors in particular). The candidate must have a good knowledge of English and French, both spoken and written. S/he must have good teaching skills and the desire to pass on her/his knowledge to a student audience. The candidate must also be willing and able to develop an original research program leading to a PhD in economics and management under the supervision of a member of the Department of Economics. Ideally, the candidate should be ready to begin employment on the planned starting date.
