Overall Purpose and Objective of Position The role of the Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager is to lead and maintain the safety, health, environmental, and security efforts, policies, and programs for the Ghent site.

This position will be responsible for standardizing and enhancing the work process to stay abreast of regulatory standards and incorporate industry requirements, best practices & new ideas into our SHE policies.

Identifying what "needs to be done", assessing the degree of urgency, prioritizing risk, and executing a plan of action are some of the required competencies.

The SHE Manager will play a key role in motivating, inspiring, and engaging others to excel and work towards common SHE goals.

They will also connect with peers from other LDC platforms and stakeholders, i.e., the insurance team and process safety, and so on.


  • Main
    Responsibilities:


Along with the below listed responsibilities, the employee should conduct any other business related to the function as required by her or his supervisor.


  • Be the primary point of contact for Security, Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) issues at assigned location.
  • Assist location management in interpreting and complying with federal, local SHE regulations and ISPSregulation.
  • Develop SHE programs for the company and then assist locations in interpreting and complying with those SHE programs.
  • Review facility operations by leading and participating in 2nd party SHE audits and by consulting with site Managers, Safety Committees, and employees to identify unsafe working conditions and develop appropriate controls or alternatives.
  • Be the first point of contact should an incident occur at an assigned location.
  • Coordinate with location personnel to ensure incident investigations are completed, followup actions taken, and learning's shared through SHE digital flows.
  • Ensure training for different business groups and personnel on SHE related issues is completed.
  • Monitor losttime injuries/illnesses and Workers' Comp claims.
  • Review site safety committee meeting minutes and safety issues.
  • Maintain Injury and Illness records.
  • Lead the PFSOteam and achieve the PFSOcertificate
  • Lead and control the SHE-CAPEX and OPEX
  • Facilitate the SHEinvestments
  • Followup of insurance audits and corrective actions coming from the surveys
  • Implement, cultivate & control the Process Safety standards
  • Regular GEMBAwalks to connect with all operational stakeholders


  • Experiences

  • The following are the basic qualifications:
  • Must have a least 5 years of management experience with direct supervision of employees in safety, health and environmental in any industry environment
  • Working in an international context, multicultural environment
  • Active in an open, noblame and horizontal company culture and structure
  • Skills 4year degree; preferably in SHE, science, or engineering
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
  • Knowledge of safety, health & environmental regulations
  • Required
