About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Functional Tester (Freelance) to join our client's digital transformation journey in Brussels. This is a freelance opportunity for 10 months, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software solutions that impact thousands of users. You'll be at the heart of a team driving innovation in legal and public sector technology, shaping the future of digital services.

What You'll Be Doing

Define and refine test strategies to ensure robust coverage and risk mitigation
Review business and analysis documentation to align testing with real-world requirements
Design and execute test cases, scenarios, and comprehensive test plans
Perform both functional and non-functional testing, including end-to-end testing with external partners
Track defects, analyze root causes, and produce clear, actionable test reports
Automate API test cases using industry-standard tools
Support project estimations and contribute to agile planning
Continuously improve QA processes and testing deliverables
Assist users during acceptance testing, ensuring seamless adoption and satisfaction

What We're Looking For

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in software testing
Proven expertise in manual UI testing and API testing/automation
Strong background in writing and implementing test strategies
Experience working with Java services, Web Services, and REST APIs
Comfortable in Agile environments and complex workflow analysis
Proficiency with Jira, ReadyAPI, and Groovy scripting (or equivalent)
Experience with Xray is a plus
Bonus: Familiarity with Katalon, Playwright, public administration systems, or ISTQB certification
Analytical mindset with a relentless attention to detail
Team player who thrives on knowledge sharing and collaboration
Excellent communication skills and a quality-driven approach

Language Proficiency

Fluency in English plus either Dutch or French is required
Understanding of the second national language is expected

Other Requirements

Ability to work on-site in Brussels two days per week (hybrid model)
Experience in both manual and automated testing is mandatory
Willingness to complete and personally sign an NDA as part of the application process
