Mission
The Long-Term Portfolio Manager leads a dedicated team of 4 individuals within Luminus' Long-Term Portfolio team.

Together, they focus on three primary pillars:
(1) conducting economic analysis for investment cases, (2) managing long-term energy contracts and (3) fuctioning as a center of expertise with the Optimisation department.

More specifically, the team is tasked with the following responsibilities:


  • Performing economic analysis for various strategic investment cases. This includes projects such as a Combined Cycle Gas Turbines, Open Cycle Gas Turbines, a Battery Energy Storage Systems or a new Offshore wind parc.
  • Engaging in the structuration, negotiation, implementation, and operational management of longterm energy contracts with external partners for renewable and/or flexible assets. These contracts span a time horizon from Y+3 to Y+30.
  • Utilizing their market expertise to inform decisionmaking and guide strategic initiatives. They assess the impact of market developments, formulate recommendations, and ensure knowledge transfer to the relevant teams.

Responsibilities:


  • Providing strategic advisory to Luminus' investment/executive committee for investment cases, ensuring informed decisionmaking and alignment with company objectives.
  • Development and maintenance of economic valuation models for different investment cases within Luminus such as open cycle gas turbines, combined cycle gas turbines, gridscale batteries, runofriver hydro turbines, onshore and offshore wind turbines,
  • Engaging proactively with stakeholders from Production, Strategy, Finance, Legal and other relevant departments to collaborate on investment cases.
  • Taking charge of coordinating market advisory tracks designed for investments structured with project finance, ensuring effective guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Taking the lead in designing and implementing renewable (Corporate) Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs and/or CPPAs). Your role involves overseeing the transformation of concepts into marketable products, facilitating transactions with clients. This encompasses contract negotiation, risk evaluation, and establishing the valuation method for each deal.
  • Driving the development and implementation of risk management solutions supporting the growing Luminus' wind business. This can be achieved by implementing tolling agreements (TA's) or Flexibility Purchase Agreements (FPA's) with utilityscale flexible assets. The targeted assets could be thermal assets, Pumped Hydro Storages, Batteries and more.
  • Ensuring followup of contracts by actively engaging in external commercial interactions with Originators, Aggregators, Utilities, Project Developers, B2B customers and internally coordinating with ST optimisation, MT optimisation, the forecasting team, the backoffice team, the generation department, legal department and finance department.
  • Managing contracts with a focus on operational efficiency and effectiveness. Ensuring that the longterm portfolio optimisation operations and processes run optimally.
  • Developing new products and tailormade solutions to answer the needs of other departments (B2C, B2B, Wind) in a fastchanging energy landscape,
  • Performing analysis and modeling of electricity and gas wholesale markets, as well as ancillary service markets, and support schemes like the Capacity Remuneration Mechanism, Green Certificate schemes or Contracts for Difference.
  • Monitoring the evolution of market rules with the Regulatory Affairs department. Defending Luminus' interests in external workgroups, assessing the impact of market developments, formulating recommendations, and ensuring knowledge transfer to the relevant teams.
  • Maintaining contacts with the EDF Group for achieving synergies and exchanging best practices in the domains of economic analysis (SESAME) and longterm contracts (EDF Trading, EDF Energy,).
  • Developping transversal projects in the department to improve processes and strategies.
  • Directing a team, coaching them and helping them develop, by transferring knowledge, giving feedback, challenging and identifying areas for improvement.

Detailed profile requirements are the following:

  • Master in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Engineering or Economics
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Trading & Supply
  • Indepth knowledge of the wholesale energy markets, ancillary services markets, capacity market and of Luminus' electricity and gasportfolio.
  • Understanding of investment valuation methods, such as Discounted Cash Flow analysis, and familiar with risk management techniques, such as stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to comprehend, structure, negotiate complex longterm energy contracts relating to the purchase or sale of renewable energy or flexibility services.
