Thales people architect solutions at the heart of the defence-security continuum.

Interoperable and secure information and telecommunications systems for defence, security, and civil operators, are based upon innovative use of radiocommunications, networks, and cybersecurity.

We are ground breaking new digital technologies such as 4G/5G mobile communications, cryptography, cloud computing and big data for use in physical protection systems, and critical information systems.

Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège).

Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.

The
Technical Design Office (TDO) of Thales Belgium is a
multidisciplinary technical team.

The team integrates mechanical, analog radio frequency, digital, and component engineering technologies.

Besides that, the office offers technical support to the production activities located at the Tubize site.

The TDO consists of three sub-teams, each with their own team leader; there is the department "Mechanical design", "Components & Magnetics", and "PCB Design".

In total, seven people work in the office.

To support the team, we are currently looking for a
Technical Design Office Coordinator (TDOC).

Mission:

The TDOC reports to the
Technical Design Office Manager. His/her main mission is
to coordinate, organize, and plan the tasks of the team . This ensures that projects are delivered on time.

Main Responsibilities:

Based on the preliminary planning entered in our tracking software (JIRA) by the Project Managers (PM's), you will
set up a detailed planning for the activities of the TDO linked to the different projects of Thales Belgium.

As future TDOC you will:
- contribute to time estimates to prepare the bids;
- identify and evaluate potential risks before the project begins;
- build a detailed planning per project in collaboration with the team members of the TDO;
- describe in detail the work package from de SOW (Statement of work document) in a work package for the different three sub-teams of the TDO;
- set up and use the necessary metrics to monitor the evolution of the projects within the scope of the TDO;
- continuously monitor how the project is moving forward and develop an accurate timeline of project completion to make sure activities are completed within the parameters of the assignment;
- ensure a follow-up of quality, deadlines and costs.

Within our organization, the TDOC will
work closely with the PM and
SEM (Solution Engineer Manager) of each project.
- define together with the PM's the resources and means to execute the project;
- communicate to the PM the load/capacity alerts and the drifts in terms of performance, cost, and deadlines;
- prepare the data necessary for the PM to calculate the financial progress of the project;
- alert the PM if there is any quality or budget drift;
- create a weekly report to the Design Office Manager on the progress of deliverables and a monthly report on the respect of delivery milestones;

  • The SEM will be your point of contact for all technical specifications addressed in the work package management tool.
Beside that the TDOC will implement
action plans for both planning and performance optimization **;
Prepare and conduct
audits of methods and tools in order to identify issues and propose areas for improvement;

Being the last link in the development process and creating a planning under challenging conditions will be one of the biggest challenges of this role.
